Help pick a price for a friend - Model 19

I have a co-worker, who is also a friend, and I have offered to sell him my model 19-4 that I bought new in the summer of 1977(I'm nearly sure) . It is a 2-T, I guess with target stocks and hammer. It is nickel-plated. It is truly in beautiful condition. The serial number is 43K95XX. I shot about 200 rounds of 38 special thru it about 35 years ago, and it sat in a holster until a couple of years ago, and I shot about another 200 rounds through it. Please see the attached pictures to give an idea of the condition. I also included a just-for-fun shot of it with a model 10-5 I recently acquired.

I am looking for a reasonable price to sell it to him. I know the prices have been going up lately, but would like to make him a good price as it is a friend and I don't need to get the last dollar for it. I'd appreciate your comments and suggestions. Thanks. Jim

$500 would be a good price for a p&r 19-4 I would think. If he doesn't like that, holler and I will drive to Bellaire and be your new friend.

Using current prices right now is a bad barometer due to the shock created by the political climate and the madness that followed the December shooting. Prices are all over the place and i think we're still seeing inflated prices and many that are unrealistic.

BTW, it looks like you have a 1T gun as the hammer/trigger look non-target to me. I presume there is no box/papers included. For a friend, $450. But thats me and that has nothing to do with pricing that I'd place on a gun show table.

I paid exactly $200 for it in the summer of '77. I didn't know any better and threw away the box years ago - my memory is that it was gray with blue writing on it. The hammer seemed wider than normal, but will defer to others.

Why am I selling it? I had been telling him I was getting 2 Model 28s from my Dad and I would sell him one of them. But when it comes down to it, and I actually got them I really wanted to keep them. So, I offered this to him instead.

(of course now that I have it all shined up, I'm struggling with getting rid of it too! )

I'd agree with $500-$550. The gun craze is ending and prices are starting to reflect reality again. These were bringing more recently due to the craze, but as you said, you want to give him a buddy price.

They don't make these anymore so I would keep it. You can help him find his own revolver and then you will still be friends. To me it's like loaning money to friends or family it could be risky and hard feelings sometime come of it, JMHO

$500 would be very fair if selling to a friend. I just purchased a 19-4 but in blue and in 99.9% condition for $475.

That is a beautiful 19 that is a classic. Around here, $500 would be a steal. I have seen guns of this quality in local shops for $100 to 200 higher. However, those are asking prices so, perhaps the actual selling prices are somewhat lower. If I was your buddy, I would jump at it for $500. If I was in your place, I wouldn't be selling it. To me your 19 is more preferable than the model 28. I would let him have one of the 28s and you will have the best of both worlds.

It is a blue one.
Make that 1375 with 14 minutes left.
1426 with 13 minutes left, 2 people must want it.
I forgot about the 15 minute rule.
