Well, the gun by itself,I would value at $750 minimum. The box alone will bring $150-$200 if you put it on that auction site that many here seem to disparage. Most opinions are offered based on what the poster would personally be willing to pay (guilty myself in many instances). Those who have recently tried to buy one,or have sold one, will agree with me I'm guessin'.

In this area I see at least 3x-4x more 6" K22's than 4" K22's in the gun shops that I frequent. If the gun is in the condition that it looks like in your pictures, and the stocks and box match the revolver, I wouldn't be surprised to see the price pushing four figures. I would expect it to be priced at ~$800-900 retail if I stumbled upon it in a store.

I had a 4" K-22 that I picked up at a local show for $450... with atrocious Pachmars on it, no box or papers... replaced the Pachmars with good period correct grips and in a complete moment of weakness, or rather complete idiocy... sold it to a buddy for $450! I have regretted that ever since!

After picking it up, I noticed these rollmarks on the barrel. Is this anything worth lettering? I'm thinking this is around a 1953 gun. Maybe import marks?

Agreed with Ash and Fattom,
Around here you will see ten with the 6" barrel
to every one 4" Combat Masterpiece.
With the box and if the grips match, the gun easily
brings 900-1000 dollars around here.

That's at least an $800 gun in my area. Could even fetch $900.

That said, the box is sort of a wild card here and I hesitate to estimate the effect on value since the only ones showing up around here have no original box with them. :o

Well I paid market value for this one, won't say the exact number but it was under $1000. It looks like this gun hasn't had a drop of oil on it since new, so I soaked it with Hoppe's #9 to get all the grime off and oiled it down, looks really great now. Dates back to 1953, grips number to the gun and the box is in very good condition. Surprised to see the target hammer on this one because I've never seen one like this before. Happy with this one.

Very nice. To me, a Combat Masterpiece is just one of those quintessential firearms that every shooter should have in their stable. I'm biased because I have a family heirloom CM. It's just one of those basic, high quality firearms that will serve you well each and every time you call on it.

Not that it really matters, but curiosity leads me to ask if the box is marked on the outside bottom with the same serial number as the gun.

I have the same type CM that you bought, replete with the two "proud" front sight pins and 1953 birthdate. I paid $650 for it to a fellow Forum member and considered it a good deal for both of us at the time, which was about a year ago I think. Since then, I've seen the prices on these range a bit upward, and I think the other posters who mentioned prices in the ranges of $700 to $900 are accurate.

Hope you'll be shooting it. They're a treat, and especially for anyone recoil-sensitive, hardly quiver when they go off. Truly wonderful guns!

When we had a "gun distribution" at my father in law's home after his death, my wife expressed an interest in his high condition Pre 18 with target hammer and Heiser holster and belt. I went away with one 870 Express and the kids shared dozens of other guns. As a serious gun family, we have had several of these events. I wish I could attend my "gun distribution".

Learning new stuff here: I have a Mdl 18-3 with box, tools & papers. The original papers make no mention of a K-22, but do refer to it as a Combat Masterpiece?

When did the 4" CP stop being a K-22 and become a Mdl 18?

FWIW, non-current production Mdl 18s sell for $600-800 in these parts. I would guess a K-22 would sell for more.
