Jetpilot,
When I first tried to take down my CS45 I too felt like the slide stop must have a problem. I just couldn't get the slide stop out with finger pressure alone, in fact it felt like it wouldn't budge an inch. To remove it I held the slide in the correct take-down location by putting a rod between the breach face and the barrel (needs to be a bit larger in diameter than a 45ACP casing). This allowed me to lay the gun down on the bench and use a non-metalic punch (Like KurctC suggested) to tap on the ejection port side of the slide release. I didn't have to get rough with it, but the amount of force was surprising to me.
In the end it turned out that the plastic detent in the recoil spring rod which helps retain the slide stop was really chewed up. I removed it from the rod and spent some time reshaping it's end until it was round again. Once reassembled the slide stop would now come out with finger pressure (all be it far more than any other of my semi-autos).
