I am going to look at a J-frame 22 for sale on Monday. I don't have the model number but it is described as a 2 inch Jframe 22 with adjustable sights. The owner says he bought it in the early 90's. The picture looks all stainless steel with a red insert front site. I was hoping it was a 317 but does not look like it.

Any ideas as to model and what it's worth?

I picked it up today. It's a 63-3. In great shape. He thinks he threw out the box and paper work but is going to check tonight. It has a Hogue monogrip on it that will be going asap. He is going to check and see if he has the original grips. Anybody know what came on it?
I am heading to the range if the rain holds out to try it out.
Pics later

Here it is with my favorite Smith. 4 inch 617 with Ahrends.

It might be a nickel revolver.
Condition, box & docs are all factors in price. Accually condition is everything and the rest is iceing on the cake.

If it IS a 2 inch Mod 63.... that's a different story!

Get the Mod # and look on an internet auction site for prices the revolver is selling for.
That should get you both right on the money.

.22 caliber J-frame 2" with adjustable sights, sound like the Kit Gun. Mine is the blued Model 34; can't recall what the stainless model designation was.

As to value, excellent condition, unaltered, with box and paperwork, I would estimate $400 to $425. Any alterations at all, start deducting large amounts. Without box and papers, deduct about 10%. Less than excellent condition (any noticeable surface wear), deduct a chunk.

Good luck. I have enjoyed by Kit Gun for many years.

I'd rather have a 2 inch 63 than a 317.Might also be a nickel 34.The 2 inch 63s seem to hold the highest demand of the later kit guns.I don't think the 317s appeared before 2000.

Here is a pic of my Model 63 with a 2" barrel.
Great little J frame, Great for training and does quite well on the 15 yard range!

Is this what it looks like?

Here I hope is a pic. Appears to be a 2 inch 63. Seems to be in good condition. I am not sure of the box but it is a firearm collector that has it for sale. I hope it has all the box and docs.
I don't really have a use for it, but I have this new addiction...... [IMG:left] [/IMG]

Yes, it is a 2 inch Model 63.

The 2 inch Model 317 has fixed sights.

That is a way cool little gun. I would get it if I could swing it.

I would get it if you can afford it. I have only seen one locally in the last 10 or so years. Yes, I bought it when I saw it.
