I bought some guns from a lady whose husband passed. Two are S&Ws. The Model 10-5 is in excellent condition. I don't think its been shot much at all. Not sure of the value. Its 38 special. Made in 1969. I put blueing at 95 percent. But would like to know your opinions.

That's a nice model 10-5.

There are a ton of them. Smith made literally millions.

It would sell quickly for $500.

Less quickly (and with patience and luck) for $600, maybe.

Longer barrel models are in less demand than the shorter barrel models.

Some of us like longer barrels for home defense and range shooting. I had a snub I traded in for a 686. I missed having a model 10 so I bought a 4" in a little worse shape than this one.

I put it up for sale on GB and no one bid on it at 475. I decided to make an offer to the lady I am helping sell them. I think I am going to make an offer for all the guns that did not sell on GB and keep most of them. Although I don't need a model 10 this gun is so nice for a 1969 in hand. I also like the Nickel one I posted on the 1890s to 61 forum. For a 1924 M&P revolver its in very good condition. I need to load a few 38s up and go to the range.

Looks like a five inch, somewhat uncommon in modern Model 10. $500 would be a fair price tho it would take the right buyer. The longer barrel 10s can be a tough sell.

The 5" model 10s' are a sweet spot for me...I have one exactly like this and enjoy great accuracy and handling characteristics of the model

A nice one, I'd give it a good cleaning.

I think I have three. An M&P from the 20's, a BSR, and a Detroit PD nickel. It's always been an odd length in this country.

It is a 5 inch.

Nice. We were carrying 5" nickel Model 10s in the mid seventies when I became a LEO. We were issued new 4" ones around 1978. Liked the 5" but the extra inch and longer holster required was a little uncomfortable after 8 hours in a bench seat patrol car. We didn't have swivel holster. Didn't get bucket seat cars until about 1978.
