Help with S&W

I need some help. I'm not a collector of S&w. I found two revolvers today at Est. sale. My question is I don't know what they are worth. They are holding them for me till Friday. This all I know right now. I don't have pictures so, I'll give you what I have

Mod 14 ser # k395902 - 38 S&W special w 6" barrel in 90-95% condition. Asking price is $350.00


Mod. K22 long rifle ser # 24178 (no letter) under cylinder no step in the hammer. 6" barrel w/ target hammer and trigger. in 90-95% condition. Asking price is $400.00

should I jump on these or Pass?

The model 14 is priced right. The .22 serial number you gave may have been an assembly number, check the bottom of the grip frame for the correct number. With a target hammer and trigger it should have a K in front of the serial and be a post war gun. I am not familiar enough with .22 serial numbers to say when the gun was made if the number you gave is the correct serial number.

I think that those guns are priced OK... the Model 14 is a .38 Target and is worth at least $400.00 in excellent condition. A K-22 made between 1957 and 1989 is worth $475 in excellent condition. Both are worth more if NIB (New In Box). Some Model 14's were made in single action only. Great target pistol! I agree that the "serial number" you gave on the 22 was an assembly number. You need to check the bottom of the grip. Good Luck!

Agreed, you do not have the serial # for the K22.

I agree with prices stated for both, especially the K22 which must be pre-1957 or you would have given us the Mod 17 stamped in the crane where you got that assembly #.

The Mod 14 was made in 1960 and should have the large center diamonds around the screw hole to be the correct grips.

Pre 17's and 17's seem to be pushing 550.00- 600.00 around here lately. The .22 is a lot cheaper to shoot unless you reload. Both are a good buy. Larry
