Gentlemen, I need your help. I inherited a K22 from my Dad, bill of sale is 1966.Five digit serial #897**. By serial # is K with a 2 and 1. Marked 324 MOD 17-2. Three screws on right side. 6 inch barrel, Target hammer, grip, trigger, and I believe sights.
So, it had a Bushnell scope and custom grip on it. I want to restore it. Hunting for rear sight and grip.
I'm looking on Original Equipment Parts sight and have found some used rear target sights.I think I need the square front. They are described as 4 inch or longer barrel, but reference 357. Can you help. Any other sources for original parts?
Then, grips. I also got a similar vintage 4 inch 38 combat masterpiece. Same style and medallion?
Thank you guys.

I have a 17-2 that shipped in 1964. All original except grips. One heck of an accurate gun. For the sight check Numrich, Bronells, Check here items/ accessories for sale. You could place an ad in the wanted to buy section. Good luck with your quest! Bob
Also have a set of diamond magnas for it

None of this makes much sense. A Model 17-2 should have a serial number that starts with the letter K, followed by six digits. I suspect the 5 digit number you quoted is in the yoke area and isn't the serial number. Please look on the butt of the gun to see the actual serial number. That would help us to provide a rough ship date. You may have to remove the stocks to see the serial number, if it is wearing oversize target stocks.

Be advised not all rear sites have the same spacing between the two mounting screws.
The K frame rear sight specifically changed from the 17-2 to the 17-3 rear site in 1967.
A rear site from another dash 2 will work like a 14-2 or a 19-2 (or older k target sight) Where a dash 3 or higher won't, also a 66-1 66-2 rear site will be the same as a 17-3 so won't work on a 17-2.
One last thing, the rear site units for snubs are longer so won't work.
