Here's what a loose 15-22 barrel looks like!

Hey DasFriek, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say there's probably an extremely small chance that you'll be getting that barrel nut off again with a plastic wrench if you used a significant amount of blue Loctite. I'd be interested to find out if you decide to remove it again, keep us posted, thanks, Shoo

I think you may have meant "you'll "NOT" be getting that barrel nut off again"
If by significant, Do you mean "Drowned it"?
I love locktite, The blue stuff of course.

That nut wont be removed or turned unless i see its moved as i drew a small line on the barrel and nut with the "Liquid paper".
I couldn't even tell the wrench engaged the nut and was turning it due to it being so loose as it was spinning freely at this point.

You would be surprised how CLP affects locktite if you soak it.
But if i take the nut off again ill post it if i can do it with the pvc. Im pretty resourceful like many people here so i can do alot you wouldn't expect.

Has anyone else had this problem recently or with the latest 15/22s?

I looked at my barrel where it connects with the upper through the forend polymer quad rail and noticed the threads of the barrel, three were visible, does that mean my barrel is loose?

I've never worried about this until reading this post and another post on calguns.net and now I have this churning feeling in my stomach.

You should be able to see a few threads.. that means its tight some what... open the bolt and place your finger on the ejector and grab the barrel and wiggle it.. if its loose the ejector will move around

Ah, thanks for that tip, BELT_FED, I will definitely try that and report back.

I can't seem to find a barrel removal video. Did it used to be a sticky?

Glad to say there was no detectable wiggle on my barrel, but I'm only at the 800 rnd mark. I will definitely continue to monitor my firearm though. Thanks again.

Hi RobGR, Get yourself a barrel nut wrench, only takes a minute or less to check that the nut has not loosened up. Shooboy and tacticool here on the Forum sell barrel nut wrenches for the 15-22, or you can add one to your order at Brownells by asking for item 100-005-782. Good shooting, Shoo

Hello Sho,
I tried the 100-005-782 at Brownells and they only show a non valid SKU.
Any ideas?

Fred

Hi Fred, I did send you a PM. The ShooWrench is not yet available on Brownells website shopping, but they do indeed have them in stock. You can simply call them and have the sales agent add them to an order or do your whole Brownells order over the phone. They will recognize the SKU# and /or the name "ShooWrench", I did call and verify this. Let me know if you have any additional problems, thanks, Shoo
