I'm Cali, from Indiana. My family has always had guns. We were taught from a young age to respect them.

In 2020, my need for personal protection became apparent, so I decided to get my lifetime license and picked up my first firearm, an M&P Bodyguard .380 from a gun show. My parents took me shooting to learn how to use and get comfortable with it. I rarely leave home without it.

Earlier this year, I picked up an M&P 15-22 for home protection. So far, I've outfitted it with:

the Volquartsen Extractor and firing pin
Sure Fire SSAR-15 SBS Bump Stock
Sure Fire Recoil Enhancer
An extra 25 round mag
2 Black Dog 50 round drum mags
CWC AR-15 tactical curved 3.5lb trigger

I have yet to fire it in this configuration, because there's no local ranges that allow bump stocks. My parents have property in the Hoosier National Forest, so we'll probably take a day trip in the coming months.

I've done a lot of research here for the 15-22, and decided to join up, because I'm sure I'll have some questions soon. Thank you for this forum and wealth of information. I'm glad to be here.

Welcome to the campfire.

On a controversial note, I totally disapprove of rifles for home defense. I'm not a big fan of some of your refinements, either, especially the bump stock, never mind the excessive magazines which I consider toys. You're not going to war, you're just taking care of business at home. Stick that overburdened rifle in a closet or safe and get a shotgun and a reasonable pistol in 9mm if you prefer pistols.

Welcome to the forum, Cali. I don't personally, but lots of folks use a rifle for home defense. With a bump stock, though, it would get loud in a hurry inside your house! Just be sure of your target if the need for home defense ever arises. Sure don't want to shoot a friendly by mistake.

Welcome Cali! It's free Country, you may do as you please. However, I'd be interested to know why you chose a rifle with a bump stock for home defense?

I guess it wouldn't just be for home defense... I'd take it out plinking. I've never shot anything auto before, and I just wanna feel that adrenaline rush.
