Numbered 457 and marked over top of the in pencil (?) Gew . Any ideas what that would be ? Mauser 1914 maybe?

Was listed as a 2" J frame but I didn't think that was right .

My first thought was the same as Tim's. A 4" M&P K Frame.
But then where yours measure about 7 & 1/4" my 4" K Frame,
model 757, shown below, measures 8".

However the HHH with no model number, but looks exactly
like my 457, measures the same as yours. And it fits
the 4" K Frame Model 10 perfectly. 2nd right below.

So, once again, Tim is correct. It should fit a K Frame
with 4" barrel.

Width of mine at the mouth is a little over 2 & 3/4" but not up to 3".

What model is your 4" K frame. If it has adjustable rear sight it would
make a difference. I'm using a 4" K frame model 10 which has fixed
rear sight.

Not mine , I don't own a 4" , I tried one at the local pawn shop today . Just guessing but probably was a 60's - 70's m10 .

As others have indicated a Model 10 M&P will fit . . . but it needs to be the tapered barrel version . . . perhaps the pawn show example was a heavy barrel which won't fit.

edit to add: the classic FBI holster . . . pictures added

My guess at the number of gumdrops in the jar is: that the pencil mark says COLT (Heiser's are commonly size-marked by hand in pencil or pen) and is for a PP. But only because you're saying the K frame doesn't fit, to it's the next logical step down. A J would be even smaller. Otherwise it looks quite like a common K frame 457.

If guilt sets in because you don't have a revolver for it, you can send it this way. I have a nekkid 3" heavy barrel Mod 64 shivering in the cold.

And if the guilt hits you for having that poor ol' mod 64 shivering in the cold you can always donate it to the cause ! Cause it's warmer in the South , Cause apparently I may have some warm clothes for it , Cause I don't have a 3" mod 64 , and last but not Least, Cause you are just such a warm and generous guy !! All donations accepted Rusty . :D:D:D:D:D

Guess I'll keep trying the short K frames till I find one that fits . I guess the Gew over the 457 is just another set of initials . Did they make this holster for a 2" J frame ? Thanks Guy's .

Well, they did but that doesn't help you any:

You know it's not barrel length, but frame size, that you're dealing with whilst struggling for a fitment.

I have/had a Colorado Saddlery version of the 457, clearly marked M&P, and after forcing my M&P into it, darned near didn't get it back out again! I had visions of having to cut the welt stitching apart. These holsters were made tight in the first place, got tighter with age.

I still think your holster is for the 4" barreled Model 10 or M&P.
If it were mine I would work with it a bit and get it to fit.
But, if you don't have a M&P or Model 10 you will just have to
go out and find one. That holster needs an occupant.
