Hello, everyone.

I recenty inherited a Model 52-1, and this forum has been coming up a lot in my searches for questions I had about it (which are all pretty much answered now, haha), and it looked like a good forum, so I figured I'd join.

As far as the M52-1, it looks great and I can't wait to take it to the range. I'm familiar enough with it (I have used it before, years ago), but it's been a long time.

I'm aware of the specialized nature of it - my grandfather shot Bullseye for a long time. He was casting his own bullets for it, but I'm not sure what he was sizing them to. Trying to decide whether I should order .357 or .358 (I do reload, but I don't cast my bullets).

Now, if I could just find small pistol primers in stock somewhere...

(I cloned out the S/N because I'm paranoid, lol. Not sure if that is justifiable or not (the paranoia).)

That's probably the best picture I have of it for right now.

...What I'm worried about with showing the serial number is that someone could claim that it was stolen. Not sure if they would have to actually prove that they owned it, or if just knowing the make, model, and S/N would be all they need.

Which leads me to another question - I have a few guns that I bought used (privately) and don't have a receipt for... If one of those were ever stolen, how would I prove that I owned it?

Sorry if that's not appropriate for an introduction thread or if it's been covered elsewhere.

Greetings from Maine. Welcome aboard! :)

In regards to the sizing, I would venture a guess at .358 for cast bullets.

As far as primers, check out the thread I started in the Reloading section: **DAILY** In-Stock Reloading Notices

Welcome from Wisconsin, Josh! It's always wise to be careful, even paranoid. I fear we have plenty to feel paranoid about these days. I've been paranoid ever since I was in Navy Spec Ops & later in the Army. We now know that they are indeed out to get us if we fit a certain mold & I qualify in 5 categories - white, Christian, Conservative, veteran, gun owner.

Thanks again everyone!

This M52-1 is my only S&W firearm (for now), but that might change soon, haha.

I do need a new .357... Something like a M586 may be just what I need.

I've sold too many of my guns (and I regret each one)... Currently, other than the M52-1, I have a Glock 22, Ruger MkII, Walther P-1 (post-war P38), Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter, Armalite AR-10(T), No.5 Mk I Lee Enfield, Remington 870, and a Marlin .22LR whose model number I can't remember at the moment.

The stuff I've sold and wish I still had include a Kimber Custom Target, a semi-auto Uzi (long barrel), and a few revolvers - among others.

I really miss that Kimber... I need a new 1911 very soon.
