1967 Garfield HS remember our Dean of Boys looking over a Ruger 10-22 which belonged to a student during squirrel season. This while standing in the staff parking lot, he might have been smoking also.

This thread is going to go on and on about what was.
What was, was the post WW II baby boom. It was a relaxed and happy America. And then WE screwed it up. In our euphoria WE forgot the Great Depression. We forgot the Great War. The war to end all wars. We forgot World War II and what it brought. My Grandfather was born in the late 1800's. We used to talk a lot. He used to say that people had become a bunch of whiny children. This was in the late 70's. He died in 86'. He's still right. 9/11 is going to have to happen at least a couple of more times before we stop whining. People are going to need to be scared out of their skins before they learn. You can't go around controlling your neighbors life. Fix your own.

I graduated from High School in 1958.

1955-1958 Rules were:

(1) We had very few bullies as they were singled out and given blanket parties by fellow students

(2) You got licks with a big fat paddle from the coach. Sometimes you needed it sometimes you didn't. The times you didn't was to remind you of how it felt incase you forgot.

(3) 1955-1957 Chevrolet was king and you could smoke the tires in the parking lot and get applause and no discipline from the teachers.

(4) No cussing or backtalk to teachers or anyone with authority.

(5) No smoking, drinking, (didn't know of drugs) at school or home

(6) Everybody had a mother and father and they were a woman and a man and married.

(7) Everybody had RESPECT for each OTHER. EXCEPT FOR THE JERKS WHO BADMOUTHED THE GIRLS. They soon fell in line after the rules were explained to them by the lineman on the football team.

(8) We didn't have a "Resource Officer" and didn't need one. We had been raised with respect and respect others.

(9) We lived in small towns where everybody knew everybody and if you got out of line some of your parents friends might just ''STRAIGHTEN YOU OUT" !

(10) We went to Sunday School and Church on Sunday morning and Sunday night and prayer meeting on Wednesday

I really don't see how the USA will survive with what I am seeing in 2015 today. Like a preacher said "If GOD lets it continue on like it is going he is going to have to apologize to SODOM AND GOMORRAH"
