What is the value of a Model 66, no dash, highly polished from the factory, like some Pythons, but with grips that look like they were painted with urethane. Any solutions for the grips? Condition of gun, excellent and 4 inch. All stainless sights. peacefulwarrior44. New to the forum, so forgive the errors.

I could be wrong but I don't think that there is a factory high polished 66 no dash. Anyway I would not buy a vintage high polish gun unless it was real inexpensive just to have a shooter.

Glass bead blast it and it will be as close to ooriginal S/S finish as you can get!!!! Also be sure and pickle the blasted finish or it will probably rust!!!

Thank you so much. There is a story with this gun and like all stories may not be confirmable. The story from the original owner is that it was done for him at Smith & Wesson by a technician he knows personally. Does not look like a home made job, but obviously could be. Any idea on restoring stocks/grips (smile)?

Stories are fun. Listen to it, and even take the time to write down the stuff you were told. Not just finish, but other details that can't possibly be confirmed.

As many here are telling you, the 66s didn't come polished. If it were done by a guy from or at the factory, its the same as if Billy Bob down the alley did it. The only known factory high polish guns were early Model 60s, and those usually have 400,000s serials.
