First, i'm new to this forum, and so far. I'm really enjoying it, thanks to everyone for being there.

A year or so ago I acquired it model nineteen dash three, and I would love to have some history on this firearm from forum members before requesting from S&W

The serial number is 2K46522.

Its in like new condition and great fun to shoot. When I take my grandsons to the range it's the first gun they want to try.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

He nailed the likely born-on date, so how about some other conversation about a 19-3!

S&W began using model numbers in and around 1958 and most of the models had names before that and the names carried on even with model numbers. The Model 19 was known as the Combat Magnum and was S&W's first .357 revolver in a K-frame size.

It first arrived in 1955. The legend goes that lawmen loved the power of the .357 Magnum cartridge but toting around the larger and heavier N-frame revolver that chambered the .357 was heavier on the duty belt and officers wished for the chance to have the .357 Magnum in the sublime medium frame that was typical of the .38 Special.

If you decide you want to try different stocks or grips for your 19-3, anything designed for the S&W K-frame should fit your revolver nicely. If you want to use the HKS speed loaders, look for the model 10 or 10-A speed loader, it's exactly the one you'll need.

If you find the cylinder gets sluggish and resists rotating freely, this will also impede your ability to cock the revolver single action, or pull through with a double action trigger stroke. That needs to be addressed, and the forward most screw on the right side of the frame is the only one you need to loosen to remove that cylinder from the yoke and clean out all the carbon and filth that is slowing your cylinder.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your 19-3.
The 19-3 was available in three standard lengths, 2.5" , 4" and 6".
(There were a handful of 3" and 5" but they are rare)
The 19-3's were made from around 1968 to 1976 and were offered in polished bright blue or shiney nickel finish, the Stainless version is called the Model 66.
The K magnum is a great gun , it was designed to fire 158 grain .357 and a steady diet of any .38 Special, its only weakness is it doesnt like lighter 110 grain .357 bullets so avoid those as they can crack the barrel forcing cone.

If you get a chance perhaps u can post some pictures?
