Hogue Grips for MP Shield

Everybody's different, but I don't see the logic of taking a gun like the Shield, specifically made & marketed as slim for concealment, and then using a slip-on sleeve to make the grip (the hardest part to conceal) thick again. Why not just buy a 9c/40c?

I'm also a fan of the Talon grips but have only had them on my Shield a couple of months. Time will tell if they last, or slowly peel off and wind up in the trash.

For those of you running Talon rubber grips, any problems carrying iwb?

Not at all>I carry OWB in a Kydex Jel Tech Holster.
No problems at all.. I had a Sleeve on my Ruger but loved the Talon so much added a set to the Ruger as well
The key to installing is CLEAN the Grip well with the pads and I also wiped down with alcohol from the medicine cabinet ! MAKE sure it is dry before applying adjust to fit and heat 2/3 times with a hair dryer

Do the Talon, and other stick-on grips, begin to peel off over time?

As mentioned they can but prep is the key. 1k rounds on my Shield no issues. The stripes for the 8 round mags are a plus,keeps the ring from sliding around

If you could find a bicyle inner tube that was still pretty "live" or just buy one at one of the marts, you can cut and trim a piece of that tube and slip it up over your grip. That will allow you to get a feel for how the slip on grips work. Actually, I like the inner tube better than the purpose made ones. They give a pretty good purchase on the grip and fit snugly enough that they don't seem to move around at all. I wiped the piece down after getting it fitted and trimmed like I wanted it. I used alcohol to clean the rubber and then installed it on a couple of smaller semi autos. Have been intending to try this on my Shield. However, I recently moved and cannot locate the remainder of the inner tube I bought for this purpose. May just go get another one! Use a sharp pair of scissors to cut your inner tube.

Preparation is key to the Talon or Traction grips staying in place. Clean the entire grip frame with copious amounts of 92% using a toothbrush or similar tool. Clean your fingers with the alcohol. Apply the grips and do the heat 'n press thing 3 or 4 times paying special attention to edges and small panel pieces. Let the gun sit for several hours afterward.

I cut my own panels from the Talon/Traction grip material and it held up very nicely. I've since had the weapon stippled for an even more aggressive fit in hand.

I have Talons on my Shield and M&P45, can't go wrong there! Love em!
