I would like to mount the BSA holo sight that I have for my 15-22 on my M&P.22 pistol. I was thinking of making a mount that attached to the lower rail and cleared the slide for top mounting, but I got to thinking what if the holo sight was mounted at 90 degrees to the left of the gun in line with the barrel. It would be about the same distance from the barrel, but it would be much more rigid since it would not be as far from the point of attachment. The biggest problem I am seeing with this so far is that I can't find any pictures of it having been done before. Is there a reason for that?

This is a top mount that I did for a Keltec PMR30. It is very sturdy and works quite well, I am curently working on a one sided model that is lighter.

I believe there was a similar mount made for the 422 series that clamped to the front of the barrel lug. Not sure the picatinny underlug on the MP22 could be used in a similar fashion, but it's a thought.

I have seen the 422 mounts that bolt on the bottom and have the scope centered above the rail (like the one pictured above), but have you seen one that goes to the side?

No, I've never seen one. My concern would be mounting anything on the composite frame. Not sure if it could be secured enough to withstand whatever shock that happens as the slide recoils.

This is another version that is more to the side. This one has the advantage of being out of the way of the slide so that you can remove the slide for cleaning without having to remove the optics. Also on scope mounts that go over the slide there is some danger of getting something caught between the racking slide and the mount bridge causing potential damage.

If it is the GSG with the rail then it would probably fit. I don't think it is any wider than a M&P.
