I just purchased an M&P9C yesterday and have been looking for a good/decent holster for it. I'm not really particular about what material it's made from, but I would like to have one that is at least somewhat made for the weapon. The universal nylon one's from Uncle Mikes, and others, just don't appeal to me. I would prefer that it were an IWB holster, but with the weapon being as small as it is, that's not really necessary. So who out there has any suggestions? I'm open to all suggestions, and your input is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have two IWB holsters made for the M&P9c (40 and .357 compacts are identical in size), a Comp-Tac CTAC and a K&D Cochise Defender.

Comp-Tac CTAC (stock image)

CTAC pros:
1) Fairly easy to obtain, wait time usually a week.
2) Advertised as tuckable (you can tuck your shirt over the gun in the holster) and it really works.
3) Adjustable for ride height and cant.

CTAC cons:
1) More expensive than some high quality leather
2) Not as comfortable as leather, but still very useable

K&D Holsters Cochise Defender (now replaced by Thunderbird Defender and Dakota Defender models, same comments apply)

Cochise Defender pros
1) Extremely comfortable
2) Less expensive than CTAC
3) Inside is finished smooth so once broken in draw is kydex fast
4) Ride height and cant angle adjustable
5) Uses easily obtainable Comp-Tac belt clips

Cochise Defender cons:
1) Ride height and cant angle adjustment range is less than CTAC
2) Wait time is over four months for one
3) Advertised as tuckable but not so in my experience

My advice is order a CTAC now to get something to carry the gun and live with it for a while. If you like the comfort, keep it. If not, order a Defender from K&D and sell the CTAC when the leather arrives.

Check out Don Hume's website. They make good quality holsters and the prices are excellent. If they have yours in stock it will take less than a week to get one.

I have bought Don Humes (JIT slides) before and have tried (in the store, holster on belt, unloaded weapon in holster) DeSantis and Galco pancakes.

I cannot recommend any of those brands.

Another tip, if you buy a hlster for the full size M&P, it will also fir the corresponding compact. So get that, even if you only have the compact, so when the time comes to buy the big one you are covered.

Thanks to all who replied. I like the K&D defender, as well as the DeSantis holsters on smith-wesson.com. Now I just have to make up my mind. Thanks again.

I use the Don Hume H717 i bough from http://www.gunnersalley.com/product/H717/Don_Hume_Agent...lt_Holster_H717.html with my 9c as seen below fits perfect, sturdy and light. Not long in the barrel like other holsters. I also bought a nice open belt side from the holster store. Like you I also want the Laredo Defender from K&D, soon I hope.

911 Boss on opencarry.org has pics of his shortened serpa for a 9c, looks awesome.

I've bought outstanding IWBs for my Compact from Comp-Tac & Raven Concealment. Both recommended highly!
