HOLY COW

Ya'll need to watch Andrew Zimmern on food network. He not only eats almost anything, but, He also tells You how it tastes. You know, like chalk dipped in meadow muffins. Even tells how it's cooked. In a crock put buried for 4 years or so.

The price of beef and gasoline went way up recently. They are both affected by the same forces. That's all I will say.

Not the same as the meat you all are talking about. But I buy the old cut ends for .99 a pound for my lunches. And chicken drums and thighs when they are on "managers special". Plus I eat a lot of eggs.

Consider that description stolen.:D

I was at the local feed mill the other day to buy a few bags of cat crunchies. Been going there for upwards of thirty years and usually have a nice chat with the owner. We got to talking about feed in general, and Dave told me that he was expecting that prices would soon be going up for the cat food (corn is one of the major ingedients) and that it may not be as plentiful as it has been. I asked, "Why's that?", and he told me, "The price of corn is currently around eight bucks a bushel, and most of it for this season has already been contracted out to big buyers." I wouldn't say that I gasped, but I was glad that I didn't have a cough drop in my mouth!

My comment was, "I guess my thoughts of raising a few chickens, again, is kinda out of the picture." He laughed and told me, "Yeah... better off just buying them from the Amish."

Too bad it's a bit of a drive to the nearest Amish market. Then, again...

I grow my own. The biggest issue now is getting them in to be processed. My local processor is booked up 18 months out. Seems everyone wanted a beef when COVID started. Small producers are making big $$ selling on Facebook. Better quality from locally sourced animals.
