Home defense: Drop M&P40 and rely on Shield 40?

What's your point? I've patterned my shotgun at 10 yards. About a 3" circle. But it's easier to hit the target than with the pistol...

my t-shirts won't hide a shield IWB. Fall/winter different story- shield all the way.

Come on really? What are your shirts made of? Tight spandex? A gun that size is a breeze to conceal IWB with a loose fitting cotton T-shirt.

I prefer big guns with more firepower for HD, as I already feel a bit under gunned by just having pistol in the first place. I'd go with the full size M&P for HD, use the shield as an EDC and the LCP for when pocket carry is just absolutely necessary (due to activity or importance of concealment).

Keep the M&P 40, put the LCP in your pocket and buy a shotgun for home defense. This should be the weapon you focus on, not more handguns.

Some people prefer pistols for indoor defense due to maneuverability.

Honestly, it up to you. I am all about simplicity and keeping things uncomplicated. When something goes "bump" in the middle of the night I know I don't want to have to figure out what firearm to grab, should I need one. Currently, my bedside HD gun is is a Glock 19 with CT laser. On my wife's side of the bed she keeps a Shield 9mm. I am in the process of replacing my Glock with a full size M&P .40 (larger cal and 5 more rounds in the mag, not to mention better hand feel) but just got it and have not had any range time to feel comfortable using it for HD yet. All other guns, including the Shield .40 I use for CCW are locked in our large gun safe.

My point being keep it simple. If I were you and felt proficient with the FS .40, use it for your primary HD gun. No reason to get ride of the other guns if you like them. Just store them appropriately in a different location.
