Ok so I have had my share of problems with my 15-22 since i bought it, i blew out the extractor on the bolt the trigger pin came out on me, feeding problems so on and so forth. this may help some people who are having problems with their 15-22 I made my own barrel nut wrench, (you can find several threads that show you how and different ways you can do it) I will tell you this when reinstalling the barrel nut the torque specs are 180inch lbs or 15 ft lbs some one some where posted 20 i tried to use 20 pounds i couldnt do it with out feeling like i was way over tightening it. I went to the range and it was harder than usual to pull my trigger. I went down to 15lbs which is plenty tight and my groups were nice and tight at 50 yds. This is what else I have figured out...after cleaning your rifle dont oil anything other than the feed ramp...the aluminum bolt and polymer housing dont need oil to slide back and forth on each other it just collects carbon. As far as ammo I have found that smith thunder bolts feed best in my gun becaue they leave a slight coat of oil on the round...also keep yoiur mags nice and clean. I have already put well over 4000 rounds through mine so I have figured my rifle out pretty good. If anyone has any questions feel free....

The bolt is actually stainless steel and it should have a light coating of CLP on it since it is steel against steel. S&W did design the bolt to be low friction it only contacts the rails at four small points rather than along the entire surface of the slots (smart IMHO). But I do recommend lightly coating the rails with CLP.

Welcome aboard!
