Homeland Security Video - Confront Shooter With Scissors

Heaven forbid they recommend you pull your legally obtained, 2A protected, and licensed CCW and just blast the attacker.

You know, because that would just be nuts.

I really hope no one is hurt watching that ridiculous video and following it. I hope who ever authorized it understands that if someone is hurt because of it on there hands.

Its really easy to make fun of the video but really its scary. What happens when some parent shows it to there kids and say this is what you do? The kids wouldn't know any better. Seriously what kid would think there parents advice would put them in harms way.

Putting out a video like this is seriously irresponsible on our Government's part. I really really think they should have to do what they preach. Maybe they stop releasing ridiculous bill's and video's.

I bet if someone suggested there secret service/body guards gave up there hi-cap mags, full auto pistols/machine guns. Any other military style armaments they have they be up in arms. Keep in mind 99.9% of American's who would use a gun in SD has a single civilian style semi automatic firearm. They don't have the elected officials multiple body guards armed to the teeth.

Kinda makes you wonder how many rounds of ammo, mags, and guns they have to protect the people who wanna disarm us. I will bet all the money in the world its more then 10 rounds split between them all.

Naw forget the scissors. I can use a straw as a dagger.
Or if i can get my hands on a quarter it becomes a throwing
star in my capable hands. Give me a toothpick and i'll have
that gun toting bad guy wishing he was somewheres else.
That's our Gov't at work fellas......Sad so very sad......

Chuck

And to think, we paid an untold number federal union "workers" to think this excrement up and then make a video about it.

Money well spent.

reminds me of the old what to do if we're under nuclear attack movies from the 50's. Hide under the desk and kiss your ^%$ goodbye

Why not just issue every Govt. Office a model 640-1 next to the Govt. issue stapler. I would think 5 rounds of 357B would beat scissors any day.

How about if I use my S&W 6906, instead of a pair of scissors.

Because that's just plain STUPID!

After a few workplace scissor stabbings, our paper cutting implements will look like this. Any employee needing these cuttingl instruments will be required to check them out from an armored locker after signing the required form.

If you have a rubber band and some paper clips you could straighten them out a little and shoot them at the gunman. Just remember to aim for his eyes.

If toure in NY careful, you are only aloud 7 shots

You wait. The first time someone tries this and manages to put a scratch on the shooter, the shooter will sue, the company, the person using the scissors, and the company who made the scissors. They will win.

There will then be a movement to ban scissors.

Reminds me of the "duck and cover" films of the 50's. It advised that after a nuclear attack we should go directly home where our mothers would wash all our clothing.

Fienstein will call em assault scissors and ban length along with sharpness and anything that would make it more comfortable to hold!

Do they offer those scissors in a tactical model?

Yes, there is a tactical model:

Black and Decker even offers battery operated full automatic scissors. I'm not sure if those are a NFA item or not.

Probably need to check with the BATFES* on those Black and Deckers. (*Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, Explosives and Scissors.)

Are .40 caliber scissors available at Office Depot? And do they require a background check?

Wait. Isn't this the same outfit that recommended senior citizens defecate on themselves in a mugging?

I just got this wild visual in my head of important political figures being guarded with secret service looking men with overcoats on. Instead of uzi's under their coats you can see the sinister outline of...wait for it.... scissors!!!
This here's a fun thread. Happy friday.

I'm going to tell you boys right now, I'd rather get shot by a crazed gunman than touch the wife's scissors. You want to whine about background checks? That's nothing compared to what I have to go through to pick up them scissors! Hoowee!

I saw the video and I laughed out loud. Then the reality hit me, my tax dollars paid for this!

Not only

Not only did you pay for it, but it's mandatory watching for a lot of people. If I was still working and had a safety meeting this is what we'd be watching.

BTW I've got tears in my eyes after reading/seeing these posts.

Will scissor season be longer than bow season?

Can I add a bonus antlerless tag to my scissor license, if I have already bagged one buck and one doe?

While I do think that this is the product of someone with severe issues

I can honestly say that if I was placed in a position to where it was do or die, I have no intention of curling in a corner and waiting for the end. I will use WHATEVER is availible to fight back to the very end. If it is scissors, a pencil, whatever, I will put it to use. If I am going on the last ride either way, I am not making it alone if at all possible.

I've got my high leverage, polymer gripped, leather cuttin' snubby scissors. Just need to figure out what kinda concealment holster I'll need, IWB, OWB or pocket.
Seriously, cower in a cubicle or attack with scissors? I can't raise my right hand or spread my fingers, let alone attack a crazed gunman with scissors but I can still shoot a snubby.

Finally a solution for my illegal 10 round mags in NY.....custom scissor holders! ( 7" or under and with no serrated edges )

I just bought my wife some new scissors, because I used her last set a couple of years ago to cut paper. Had to get her new ones, as she was using the old set and I got to relive my past atrocity of using them. Never again will I even touch them.

And don't ever use them to cut gasket material!

Trust me on this!:eek::eek:

Lots of people work in places where they can't carry. A pair of scissors makes for a far better defense than harsh words. I wouldn't recommend grabbing them up and go looking to confront a gunman, but if you're trapped and escape is impossible, why die on your knees begging? Attack with every bit of vigor and any tool you can bring to bear. Not everyone that gets shot at gets hit. Not everyone that gets hit dies.

Pinking shears. . .

I have similar shears. According to Homeland Security, each serration or sawtooth counts as a blade that's capable of cutting. That makes these "high capacity" scissors, now banned. Scissors are only allowed to have 2 blades nowadays. :)

I'm fine with scissors being recommended as self-defense tools ... when the govt says that we can carry them onto planes and into Federal buildings without issue.
