Bought the 9th edition of Hornady's reloading book today.
My question is; why are the listed HAP bullets .356?
Why don't they list load data for them?
I did send them the same questions.

Being a new bullet, there might be data but not until the next data printing.... but should be available if you send an e-mail or phone them for some.

They are said to be MORE accurate than the xtp design for match work..........
The .356 dia. might be for the "Old 9mm's " that have a over size barrel, since many are not a tight .355 like the newer pistols that have only been shot 2-5 years ......instead of 40 years, like my old Radom.

Good luck getting that data.

Not sure why Hornady books show them as .356.
I just bought some 9mm HAP bullets and it has .355 right on the box.

Use the load data for the XTP.

The Hornady book has them listed as 121 and 125 gr and .356
Maybe that is a misprint because the ones I found elsewhere are .355 and 115 and 124 gr.
Either way they don't list loading data.
Just really thrown off by the larger diameter and wonder if they even make them.

In 9mm, lead and plated bullets are normally .356", jacketed bullets are normally .355". Either one shoots well for me, I use the .356 plated bullets exclusively for competition.

From what I have read the HAP is just the XTP without grooves so the load data should be the same as XTP.

But let us know if you hear from Hornady.

Looks like the book needs an update already.
Here is the response I got from Hornady;
Mr. ---,

The HAP and XTP bullets are companion bullets and you can use reloading data for the HAP bullet and the C.O.L. seating depth’s etc. Some of these bullets were not ready when the first printing of the loading manual was printed and it is cost prohibitive to add the photo’s at this point.

The .356” diameter bullets are intended for cartridges such as the 38 Super, 38 Super Comp, 357 Sig and similar cartridges.

Thanks,
