I bought a new Lock and Load system and began reloading not too long ago. I finally filled out the paperwork and sent it in to get my 500 free bullets! I was excited to get 500 free .44 projectiles. I didn't even mind sending them the $14.95 for shipping.

Today I received an email telling me they received my order and I should expect to get a notice of shipping.........in 12-16 weeks.

Wow, lets get loaded, but lets do it 4 months from now.

Has anyone done the "Get loaded" promotion? Does it really take 4 months to get them? I have not bought .44 projectiles yet because I thought I'd just wait to use these. But wow waiting 4 months to shoot my .44 with my own ammo doesn't seem like much fun.

I picked up a second LNL AP and sent my request about 6-8 weeks ago. I received my .45 bullets last Friday. 2 years ago it took 5-6 months. They produce bullets in batches by caliber and by commercial demand. When they next make .44, they'll take the allocation to the program and fill the requests first come first served. If you don't make that batch, you'll have to wait. I'm guessing the .44 is a lower demand commercial product. At least that's how the folks explained it to me a couple years ago. The good news is they do eventually show up!

Why I don't understand the allure; 500 free bullets, not really of your choice? Enjoy the press.

They cashed my check 3 weeks after I mailed it & I received my .44 180gr XTPs right at 12 weeks after I mailed the form/check. It might not be timely but the price is right, if they're offering something you can use, later. :p

I would have bought the hornady press even if they hadn't given me free bullets. So yes they are a nice bonus. I just didn't understand the 4 month wait? I still have many .44 rounds, just none I built that I can toy with to get what I want.

I still am having fun with my .357, .38, 9mm, and .40 S&W ammo I'm making. .44 projectiles are hard to come up with here locally, so getting them free and online was nice. Just wasn't expecting the wait. I would have thought the typical 4-6 weeks thing.

Oh well I'm still enjoying it, will put it out of my mind and enjoy the new hobby.

I got the LNL AP last Christmas when Palmetto had it in sale for 300.00. Got my bullets in 40 Cal about 3 weeks after I sent the form and check in. I was surprised how quick they filled the order.

How about this for an update. I got an email today from Hornady. With a tracking for my free bullets. They will be here Wednesday.

Of course you know I finally bought some .44 projectiles yesterday at Bass Pro!

500 is a nice round number. The last batch of 500 I did, I loaded it on a single stage press. My progressive was set up for large primer and I didn't want to change it and change it back! If I remember correctly it took a little less than 3 hours. The free-bee is a nice perk, but in the greater scream of things ammo batches will be much larger as you accumulate more brass. My last batch of 45 ACP was 4400 rounds and 44-40 was 1700. Many years I load each cartridge once. SO the brass is from what was used last year and all I won, bought and found. On 45 ACP that is normally 6000+ per year, but I've been recovering and in evening classes. 38, 357, & 45 Colt, I only own 3000, 2000, & 5400 brass. So some years I need to do a second reloading. So 500 bullets is a drop in the bucket. Years ago I was going to load a 1000 batch of 380, and never got around to it. There are 10 boxes of 100 bullets still on the shelf with $5.95 price tags on them (back then it was common to get 10% discount on 10 boxes mix & match), a while back I sold the brass for 18 cents each to a commercial reloader, so he could do a 3000 round order. My projectiles just get more valuable. Many times a group of 500 projectiles is used a trading material, what am I going to do with 500 of a load when I use several thousand of something else.
