Horseradish

Nothing like good horseradish. Some of the stuff you find in the stores is okay, but I haven't found any that can hold a candle to the homegrown stuff.

I planted a mess of it just outside the mule pasture, close to my tack shed. Believe me, just making up a batch of that stuff cleans your sinuses out for a good month and a half!

Slather a mess of it on some thick slabs of cold roast beef, wedged between a split sourdough roll with a slice of tomato, a couple of slices of Bermuda onion, and a slice of sharp cheddar, and you've got a sandwich that's worth writin' home about.

Dang! I'm worse than Pavlov's dog! I'm startin' to salivate already!:)

Awesome stuff...

Wild horseradish is a perennial. I've had a patch (4'x5') growing in my backyard for over 10 years. I also have a designated blender, just for processing it.

Peeled HR root, vinegar, lemon juice, salt and a little sugar... Great on hotdogs and in in cocktail sauce. Don't inhale after eating it!:eek::eek:

My dad brought some Tulkoffs Fresh ground horseradish home from Lexington Market in Baltimore, MD. Fresh ground like grind the roots right there in their stand.

Mixed a teaspoon with a bowl of ketchup for oyster fritters........we used that bowl of sauce for almost half a year as a starter, as in a teaspoon of that sauce in a bowl of ketchup. The pint container of the horseradish was around I know at least two years, never went bad, never lost potency!! Good Stuff!!!!!!

Roast beef sandwich with horseradish.

I like wasabi, too.

Wasabi can put your taste buds out of commission for a while too.

If you like Wasabi try some Wasabi and Ginger chips -- I think they are from Kettle.
