I've yet to see it, and have no intentions to.

Is it good?

All I can say is-not being a fan of modern Westerns nor most new movies--I absolutely love this movie. If you take my word on what is good concerning Westerns? I highly recommend this one. I cant say more for fear of ruining it for those who have not seen it yet but-Christain Bale-whom Ive never been a fan of-but do not dislike--has made me a fan because of this movie. Ive always liked Wes Studi.

Thanks for reinforcing one of the reasons I haven't been to a movie since very early in this century.

One: I don't care to support Hollywood.

and Two: Probably more important to me personally, I don't like the other people who go to the movies. Your description accurately described the folks I recall surrounding me at every movie I think I ever went to see.

As a matter of fact, I confess, I was probably one of "them" back in the late 50s/early 60s when I went with a bunch of the "guys."

Slurping, burping and shaking the popcorn bags, yeah, that was me.

Lucky I lived to adulthood.

I saw this very impressive motion picture. It met all of my expectations. I commend it to all who value and appreciate a good Western. Top notch.

And since hollywierdland aint giving it any thumbs up for some damned political reason? I'm supporting this movie even more. Wanna know who Bale reminds me of? Sam Elliott.

I thought this guy looked a bit like a younger Wes Studi. I wonder if he is his son?

Thought this a fitting last image for this post.

Like to see it but it hasn’t come to my neighborhood yet?
Thought it was suppose to be in last week but so far it’s a no show?
Thanks for the reviews
Seen one the other night on TV that I somehow missed on time? It was called Comanche Moon made in 2008. Was suppose to be the presequal to Lonesome Dove.
It was in six parts and was shown consecutive with no interruptions, I thought it was pretty decent and I enjoyed it! ;)

I haven’t been to a movie theater in quite awhile, mostly b/c of the experiences outlined here. It seems people have forgotten their manners, or never had the proper training at home, and have no respect for those aorund them. Don’t know where things are headed and since I’m getting up in years, likely will never find out.

No, I have not seen it, Nor do I plan on seeing it.

Why should I watch yet another movie on the Genocide of Native Americans,???

Who are the Hostiles? The Europeans who resulted in the extinction of Millions of Native Americans (not just what is now the USA)

But hey. we gave them alcohol and let them have a casino on some dried up reservation.

Another biased untruth of "history" which started with Columbus Day and all that other BS!

Wife and I saw it last night. I enjoyed it. The scenery was amazing and lots of booming Colt Single Action Army revolvers!

We're going out ot see it in 10 minutes.
Here in GBC,we hace a huge new theater here that shows about 5 screens.
The popcorn is great too.
Lots of old retirees here. bye,,,,,,,

"We are all hostiles"

It's Human nature.

Yes, unfortunately, humans have a inner hostility.

Go back and read all the threads on the Holocaust. The atrocities committed by the Nazis on the Jewish.
That is all anyone talks about. As horrible is that was, no one seems to discuss the genocide of the Native Americans over years and years!!, Total annihilation. and what a farce Columbus Day and the real Thanksgiving where actually about.

But there is no discussion here, as so many like their Westerns (distorted history) and John Wayne.

Glad y'all liked it. I thought it very slow moving and stretched a 30 minute movie into 2 hours +. But then different opinions are great.

You should spend some time studying the history of the Indians. It does not just start with white guys showing up. Not much is written, but it can be mostly pieced together. Funny thing is how the white people name for a lot of tribes is different than the name the Indians give themselves. And when the white people name is different it is usually from an entirely different language.

People seem to think that before the white guys showed the Indians spent all day either frolicking with the bunnies or sitting around saying wise things. Then the white guys came to give them smallpox and steal their land.

Truth is that before white guys the Indians spent a pretty good amount of time killing each other and stealing each other's land. They behaved about the same as the people in Europe.

When the white guys showed up they did not just mow down the Indians and stuff the survivors in a casino. Indians put up quite a fight and not all of it was defensive. Many times they were the attackers. And many times they were quite successful at it. They were also more than capable of a level of brutality that would make ISIS proud. In the end it was disease that wiped them out a lot more than military force. Europeans brought minor diseases that the Indians just could not handle. It went both ways. Indians had minor diseases that killed off vast numbers of white people. In some parts of the Americas the 1 year survival rate for Europeans was only about 40% due to interesting diseases that Europeans had never encountered before.

This whole thing about the morally superior peaceful Indians being slaughtered by nasty white guys just because they like to be mean is nothing but a politically correct fantasy. The Indians were militarily superior up until the invention of repeating arms. They lost because of disease, and that was an accident. Even still, the Indian wars lasted nearly 400 years.

The Indians pretty much lived in a state of perpetual war since the beginning of time. Funny thing is that first time ever that the tribes lived in peace with each other is after they were conquered by the white guys.

All those people out there carrying on about the evil white man are a bunch of ignorant racist fools. White guys never did anything to the Indians that they did not do to each other. White guys killed the Indians and stole their land. Well how do you think the Indians got that land in the first place? They took it from someone else.

OK. Thats enough carrying on. Sorry about that.

“ White guys never did anything to the Indians that they did not do to each other”

That doesn’t make it right.

I went to the city today and watched the movie. A good western that was in desperate need of a military historian and a knowledgeable firearms advisor. Supposedly filmed in 1882, a trapper had an 1886 Winchester. The soldiers all seemed to carry different carbines. Bale carried a Winchester 1873. One trooper had a period Spencer carbine that had been abandoned by the military years before. And they all had Mills cartridge belts with 45-70 cartridges, except for Bale who carried a McKeever? cartridge box. Didn't see a military issue 1873 Springfield carbine. I did like the fact their hair was always messed up, and the fact their clothes were worn and ragged.
