Very cool picture! My grandpa was stationed in Michigan during the Great War and stood many hours while they made ready for the picture below. I have no idea where he stands in the picture. But he told of the event and had a copy of the picture out of an old newspaper. He died in 1970 and I remember it to this day.

Sorry for being a wet blanket, but when I see pics like that, all I see is officers sitting under a big umbrella drinking cokes and watching enlisted men suffering in the sun. Those guys would have been better served being on the rifle range or taking a nap.
