I have been looking at the VZ grips for smith revolvers. Has anyone tried any of these and what did you think of them ? The black cherry would probably look good on a 617.

I currently have a set of the 320's on a 66-7. The first thing I noticed is that they are smaller overall. They are on par quality wise with the other VZ grips.

I need to spend more time with them before I decide if i like them well enough to use them instead of the Ahrend's grips I've been using for years.

You should be able to search and find other threads too.

I have a pair of the black cherry 320s on my 649-1. I like the slightly textured feel of them and they fit my hand quite well. I will say that they are quite heavy compared to some lamo-camo boot grips I have on my 340PD. Plus side is that the extra weight helps dampen recoil a bit and an all-steel snubby is already heavy compared to the airlites and airweights so it is a non-issue to me.

I would get another set in a heartbeat.

I had a set on my 3" 657 for a time. I like them and they fit well. I'm currently trying some boot grips for better concealment.

I have a set of black cherry tactical diamond VZ Grips on my 2" 64-2 S&W. I like them a lot and they are very grippy because of the aggressive pattern. Of all the grips I have tried on my 64-2 they are my favorite. It isn't a carry gun or I would have picked the smoother 320's instead. I am a fan of VZ grips and have other sets on my CZ75 SP01 and Ruger 22/45 Mk.III.

I have a pair also that came on a 6" 686-5+ back in the summer. I think they would work on a shorter barrel, but I didn't like them on the long barrel. I ended up putting the stock hogue's back on.

Does a Safariland comp 1 speed loader clear these? Not all of the "boot" style grips provide enough clearance. I got a beautiful set of Hogue bantams in cocobolo that look great but are a no go because of the lack of clearance.

Doc, I use speed strips on the revolver that I have the 320s on. I apologize that i am not able to answer that question.
