How are you beating the heat?

With summer upon us and the temps and humidity running high how are you beating the heat?
Since I'm retired there is nothing I really need to do. Anything I need to do outdoors I do in the early morning and after the sun goes down!
Have been drinking a lot of fluids staying in the AC and doing evening swims!
Of course the evening swim is accompanied with some ice cold adult beverages! :D

I grew up in this same area. I grew up living in a house with no a/c. We only used box fans and got along fairly well. Once we moved into a house with a/c, we were ruined. Now I cant stand not to have a/c.

Since Jan, ive HAD to have on--one of my window units so Shasta isnt uncomfortable. I leave it on all-day till I get home. Then it goes full blast with the second unit on and doing the same. BOY I CANT WAIT TILL MID OCTOBER GETS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are in the midst of the "Dog Days of Summer" which """"officially"""" started earlier this week and is supposed to run to Aug 11th.

So it's hot enough to fry an egg on your personal Panzer.

I live at 7300' and 80 is about as hot as it ever gets. Humidity occasionally gets to 50% or so but usually lower and lows at night are around 40 this time of year. We don't have air conditioning, don't need it. Honest to Pete, I just don't understand how you guys put up with it! Our winters can be long around here but you just can't beat the summers.

As the Brits say: "Lucky bloody you." Here, cant feel the humidity unless its at least 70%.

I love the heat but I'm not gonna lie, it takes a toll. I'm wearing a hat outside and have plenty of water. Hanging out in a/c rooms as much as possible. Our a/c at home is set at 77 degree F and it's okay. I don't wanna spend too much $.

I'm not sure what's better; keeping the a/c on a low temp or setting it on a high temp and run the ceiling fans...?!

I just found out here locally, the electric companies charge 3 cents per hour to run one fan--upped to 6 cents per hour from may through sept. I leave a window unit on, but now turn off my ceiling fan till bedtime. Supposedly by turning off one fan, will save around $25 bucks or more [per month. Well, im trying that out this month-so we'll see, we'll see.

We actually do have a window unit.
It's in the room I store my leather in. It's on the north side of the house but if it gets too warm in there, I run the A/C for a little while to cool it down.
I like to keep my leather cool and in a dark room.

Air-conditioned teepees:

Part of one of these teepees I think?

These are located in Austin.

Y'all think this this weather is hot? I wait until about 2:00PM then I go up in the attic and drink hot coffee. :D

But really I try to get all outside chores done by 0900. Also I increase my intake of Shiner Bock. I always have several mugs frosting in the freezer and I put a few of those long necks in the freezer about an hour before it's time for a cold one. It's the only time of the years when I drink beer in the morning.....well....'less I'm a fishin' ;)

I also take cold showers.

Here in Ct. this week has been hot in the low to mid 90's and very humid .
I'm a sprinkler fitter by trade so I'm up at the ceiling most of the time. This week two of the job's I've been on one was a 100 year old mill that I had to replace some rusted out pipe in the eve of the attic . The other place was a factory that make's bee's wax and that place has steam line's every place so in both places a half hour after starting at 6:30 am I was soaked just as if I jumped in a lake. :( So needless to say my A/C is set at 68 deg. as soon as I get home.:)

I got sick of pacing around the house to avoid going out into the heat.
I went to the range. The Gods of Cool found me and sent a wonderful breeze that cooled me down and made me happy.
I guess it was my lucky day.
