People are moaning and groaning here in Atlanta. Im a Northern Transplant. This weather is cozy relative to the horrible summer heat. I hate hot. Gimme cold every time.

Well, it's going to be around zero again tonight....I understand it's supposed to warm up into the 30s next week...when I go back to work!! Had a month off for Christmas, and had a virus infection the first 3 weeks, and below zero temps for a couple of weeks, through my back to work date. Still...gave me time to read and hang out here on the forum a little...

Have fun on the rest of your vacation, Jack!!

Best Regrds, Les

We had the coldest Xmas week in over 100 years here.

Folks like to BMW (Complain, Moan, Whine) about the cold, but forget just how hot it gets in the southern latitudes over summer. I can deal with the cold a lot easier than the heat.

No so for my poor little dog. I got her last July at the local animal shelter. She is a 4 year old Corgi/terrier mix, and spent her life in Alabama, where she was abandoned. Long story how she got here. I'll be glad for her when it warms up. In the mean time I do my best to keep her as comfortable as possible:

It was so cold today that I was actually considering wearing gloves. I did put a hoodie and a hat on.
The temps were close to single digits but at least there was a nice cool brisk wind blowing.
I told my wife that this feels like frostbite weather.
The next coupla days are supposed to be even colder.

It is so cold in south Texas that I actually pull out a jacket. I've had this jacket for 6 years and this is literally the 4th time I've worn it...

Was in the high 60s here today with no wind, warm sun, and now it's 56 degrees at night. :)

Good for you. You'd be shocked and saddened to see/hear the cases of people leaving their dogs chained and tied outside during this cold weather, temperatures down into the single digits. And dogs falling through the ice of frozen ponds.

Even my dogs, who love cold weather as much as I do, are spending more and more time inside with me now in the daytime. We still go for our daily walks through the woods while the temperature gets up into the 20s, but once the temperatures start dropping and the sun goes down, they're inside until the next morning.

Gotta take care of the dogs, that's all there is to it.

It hasn't been above freezing since Christmas Eve and won't be until Sunday 1/7/18!
That's 2 weeks folks!
Dropped as low at -14 2 days ago with wind chill down to -35 F. It sux!

We lost a local lake due to the cold, A late flock of geese landed last night just before dark. The Temp dropped really fast last night. This morning when the geese took off they took the lake with them.

She is the seventh dog I have had. All of them have been discarded by their previous owners. I was told this dog was "dumped" at a shelter in Alabama because she was pregnant. She got sent here to MN, had her puppies (which quickly found homes :)) and then she was spayed and placed in a foster home. She was only there for 5 days when I got her :):):). Then in October she needed a serious operation (included removal of a chain of mammary glands). It looked like she was not going to survive the ordeal, and she was in terrible pain. I felt so bad for her. But then a few days later there was a turn and she slowly made a full recovery.

I say this about all of my dogs, but she is the best one ever in her own way, and I pray our Creator gives us a long time together. You could not buy that dog from me for any amount of money.

Truth be told I already miss it. I'm a cold weather guy. In fact, the colder the better so long as I don't have to be out in it! Something about a frigid night and being cozy in the house, cuddling up to a honey or a glass of vodka (or both). :)
