0 degrees in suburban St Louis at 6a.m.
It's not real cold in Durham, NC, but it started snowing about 45 minutes ago. As per usual it looks like the entire area will be shut down the rest of the week.
I really love living in the Southeast, but I wish these folks would learn to deal with a few inches of snow, without going into panic mode.

Central Kentucky: When I turned in for the night last night, it was 5°. Almost 9 Am now and it's all the way up to 7°. It will take a while for snow to melt like that. Hopefully this extended deep chill will cut back on the pesky critters come next Spring& Summer (like mosquitoes & ticks).
It's so cold that the Global Warming alarmists/hysterics have been quiet for two months now.

was 1 when i went to get some caffeine this am. Have had so dang many cold mornings i'm getting used to it unfortunately.
The holiday period here was the 2nd coldest on record, something like 1.5 degree for an average temp for that week. So when it went up to 11 one day, it actually felt pretty decent. And that just ain't right!

Thu suburbs NE of Columbus are 9 degrees F now (0925 EST) This is much warmer that the last few days, we had -20 wind chills a week or so ago!
When we had all the kids on the farm, part of getting ready for winter was checking to see how many of the family we could outfit at once to work outside in 30 below chill factors. There were 6 of us, I felt 3 was minimum and usually had 5 or 6. The problem wasn't them growing, it was them growing up and away (but can you blame them?)

Most of you guys are colder than the PNW! Been about 40F for quite a while. Rain has melted all the snow. Even the Cascades are showing large brown patches. A few snow flurries but it's been raining for at least a week. Seattle Weather! Nights are mostly above freezing!
Only one real snow storm this winter! Usually everything is white from Halloween/Thanksgiving until close to Easter. Normally, we are below zero and have 1-2 foot base here in town.

It's pretty darned cold over here in "Hotlanta"! With the wind chill, we're hovering around Zero degrees!! Can't wait until the spring to see how many of our plants didn't make it. Hopefully this cold will kill all of the pests and bugs that need killing, which will be a good thing this summer!
It's "colder than a politician's heart" and "a well-digger's backside"!

At 6 a.m. this morning at my place in north east Texas the thermometer read 8 degrees. It could be worse. The Siberian village of Oymyakon yesterday recorded a record temperature of minus 88 degrees Fahrenheit. Real temperature, not wind chill.
After several days of sub-zero temps and -30 to -35 wind chill temps it is
ABOVE 0! And will stay there for awhile.
Snow? What's that? Was too cold to snow.
My son lives in Branson, MO, had 7 or 8 inches.

Most of the snow falls in the South at 32 degrees... guess what the temp is in Durham, NC(10:30am)? Most of our snow is "wet snow" followed by low temps... guess what we have then.. can you say "ice"?
10 degrees here.. oh, the roads are ice!
It was 20 at 5:30 this morning when I took the dogs out. It is up to 31 now at noon. The rain gauge has a couple tenths of frozen sleet in it from the last couple days. I must say that I have never seen our whippet take a faster leak and get back into the house. Our cocker is like, "Meh, it's a little chilly."

The local brass monkey population has been severely affected.
It's cold and snowing here so I'm inside on the forum. Time for a little seagoing trivia: A brass monkey was a brass or more likely bronze plate with holes in it used to stack cannon balls on deck in a pyramid. This was typically done in Ships of the Line prior to battle. Worked pretty well except when it got really cold. The brass would contract more than the iron balls and they sometimes popped off and rolled across the deck. Thus... It was so cold it froze the balls off a brass monkey.

The neighborhood weatherman posted his frozen bird bath and thermometer reading of 28° just at sunrise this AM.
Supposed to be colder tomorrow AM.
