I've been receiving calls that claim this is the last chance to lower the interest rate on my credit card. I think it's a phishing scam, and so do lots of other people. The number calling is 305-836-7371. When I did a web search on the number, I got these sites:
http://whocalled.us/lookup/3058367371
http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-305-836-7371
http://www.callferret.com/305-836-7371.html

I'm on the do not call list. When I try to talk to them and do not follow their script, they hang up. If I ask them to take me off their list, they hang up. If I call back, I get a recording that says the number is no longer in service. Sounds to me like it's on an answering machine and not coming from the phone company.

It's obvious that they are not going to respond to my requests that they no longer call. What state agency in FL or OK would I call to report this? I know they are breaking laws, I just don't know which ones or who enforces them. Any help would be appreciated, but pulling a prank on them or using an air horn won't work, as they hang up if you get off their script.

I had a well known credit card company send my wife and I on average 20 plus applications a week. I would call the number provided and tell them to stop doing so, spoke with every idiot that they put on the phone. The last supervisor I spoke with was a real a-hole, so I informed said a-hole after I got his name that I was calling my states attorney general office and filing a compaint and that they should address their attention to him. I did call and received a complaint packet but never filed but the kicker was I never received another application. My suggestion is to call your states attorney general office it does work

When I get unwanted solicitations in the mail with a postage free return envelope I take everything they sent me, including the original envelope and stuff it in the return envelope. I usually quit getting stuff from them in short order.

You can also call the FCC. They will prosecute and that includes unsolicited faxes. At least they used to handle these matter about four years ago.

I had a company call me last week oh-- something like 8 times in two days and as the calls added up my anger increased as it went. The final phaone call pretty much was as follows: Was very nice and calm speaking in a low voice explaining how I was not pleased about calls after 9pm and how I didn't think there organization was very profesional about calling many times after they were asked not to and so forth, after the man on the phone said here understood my concerns and he would not call after suppertime anymore and said he would call back the next day at an earlier time. Well (I thought to myself) I exhuasted the nice guy routine, I asked my wife and child if they would excuse me so I could go to the garage to finish the phone call. I then asked if the phone call was being recorded and if the "boss" could join us in this call. I then gave them a four-letter filled explaination about my feelings on things about their company along with canceling all of my business with them and informed the company I would be contacting their rival about my business. I was amazed that they listened though the entire one-sided comentary, but they did. All in all, my phone has been silent for a week with not any other contact from them. I am not a cussing dude usually but I had enough. I may or may not do this again in the future but it worked for me.

Just my 2 cents worth of advice.

I was getting the same call's, would just hang up but after awile it became annoying, especially when it pulled me from the loading bench. Finally I answered it and punched the number to speak to the human. Told them I do not even have a credit card "it's true" and to quit calling me. So far so good, it's been a few days and no call's!

I've been getting the same type calls for a few weeks now, so far from at least 9 different numbers. All of them from Florida. So much for the "Do not call" registry.

Well, I followed both links given me here and complained to the state of Florida (from which the call came) and the FCC. I doubt it will do any good, but it made me feel better.

The "do not call" registry is a joke; only as effective as we are willing to file complaints, or the AG's offices are willing to follow up. I'm willing to bet that prank phone calls aren't real high on their list of criminal activities.

Caller ID is your friend.

A friend of my wife's tells the caller to hang on for a minute then puts the phone down on the counter and walks away.

The Govt is going to take care of our Healthcare...but can't take care of unwanted calls.

Before bashing the do not call registry, lodge a complaint at their site. I give bogus callers one time sometimes, telling them that their call "constitutes violation of the Do Not Call regulations and as soon as I'm through talking here, I'm filing a complaint." Then I hang up abruptly and file a complaint.

For the most part, no repeats.

This is what makes me out of sync with a lot of people. This do not call list is BS. What we need is a do call list. If you want the solicitations then you put your name on the list. If your not on the do call list you don't get calls. Anyone else see it that way too?

When I am in a good mood, When they call me I say "I cant here you, Please speak louder"
After about 3-4 times of saying that, they are yelling at the top of their lungs at me,,,,,, I am sure they are being looked at all funny in their cubicle,, They wind up hanging up and not calling back!! I get a good laugh and go about my business.
