How do you carry your CSX

... Do you carry with a round in the chamber, "cocked and locked" ...

I am not knocking the gun. I'm just curious how others are doing it.

Have you had Professional Training with the CSX? I recommend Thunder Ranch and its local to you.

LEOs will say one thing and I would point out that the Department I retired from. We had our own Range so I got a new pistol I could shoot on my lunch break, after work, before work and on my day off for free. If you go "cocked and locked" you will need a lot of practice.

After reading the comments I can only guess that my skill level is significantly lower than many of the other members of the forum. For me, betting I can easily one handedly rack a pistol while being punched in the face, kicked in the ribs, or holding onto someone's wrist while they're trying their best to gut me sounds risky. It does appear however that for most of my respondents none of this would be an obstacle. It's good to know that there are real superhero's out there.

IMHO opinion you need to carry your EDC ready to fire one handed instantly. If you’re not confident enough to carry a SA auto cocked and locked you need to consider another option, like a revolver or DA only auto.
Training is key to confidence. Internet tricks are useless.
Now, when I was on the job we trained extensively to operate our handguns under duress, including one hand reloads and emergency slide racking on belts, shoes etc. That was training to prepare for emergencies, not every day carry procedure.
Train with your chosen weapon until you are confident and don’t carry it until you are.
Best of luck.

I was finally able to convince my 84 yr-old mother to carry a rd in the chamber, but only after I demonstrated her lack of prowess in the foot-stomp and heel-strike arena.
She was especially inept at the brachial-stun.

Carry it the way ... you feel comfortable and confident with .

You need not concern yourself with how " others feel " during a gunfight they will not be there to help you out ... or condemn your methods .

Do what feels correct and right for you and practice untill your methods are second nature .

Be wary of foolish advice ... it can get you killed .

I carry mine cocked and locked. When confronted by a violent encounter, time is not your friend.

I echo what others have said, get training with your carry gun and then practice- IDPA/ USPSA are good venues to gain confidence in your gun and gun handling.

Carry as you see fit, but practice to become competent.

Good luck

I carry my CSXs cocked with a round in the chamber and the safety on, in a holster designed for the gun. Like an American.

OT: My understanding of the term "cocked and locked" from the olden days was that it was a reference to the 1911's (and similar guns') design feature of the safety locking the slide in place. The CSX, of course, doesn't do this - like the P938, the safety locks the hammer back but not the slide - the slide runs freely with the safety engaged. My feeling is that this is a giant improvement on the 1911's design for my purposes (Browning (PBUH) designed a gun for an army concerned with fighting a cavalry attack in the opening of the Twentieth Century - not my problem) - when I have to load and unload the gun (before and after traveling by air, for instance), I can do so with the safety on. Yay.

Here is the best article I've ever read on the subject, and I've saved it for over a decade... The Thinking Gunfighter: THE MYTHS OF THE ISRAELI METHOD OF CARRY, or why carrying chamber empty isn’t so bad.
full disclosure, I don't own a CSX and I'm never going to buy one.

That's an ugly gun I wouldn't carry it.
Having said that, this is a well thought out, well written article.

And having read it I'm going to continue to carry my Glock with a round in the chamber.

You do whatever works for you

I'm not talking about holsters but rather the state at which you carry your CSX. Do you carry with a round in the chamber, "cocked and locked", one in the chamber hammer down, or chamber empty and hammer down (of course). The reason I'm asking is because it just seems to me it would be difficult to put into action unless carried cocked and locked which not everyone is comfortable with. With one in the pipe and the hammer down you need to cock the hammer manually which isn't going to be easy to do one handed. I am not knocking the gun. I'm just curious how others are doing it.
I’m always amazed at the folks scared of “Cocked and locked” carry who then turn around and stuff a plastic cocked and Unlocked pistol down the front of their britches, but hey, I’m old. Carry what gives you warm fuzzies, But if a gun doesn’t have one up the spout don’t depend on it saving your bacon if things go bad. If you need a firearm because things have went bad, you need it now, not seconds from now.
