I'm about to start travelling with my gun more.
But, going to work, I can't exactly bring it in the office.

So, I'm curious, how do you carry your gun day to day?

I have a CCW, and I was thinking of merely leaving my gun in the car when I'm in the office. But, Georgia; Atlanta in particular can get very hot at times. Is that a wise thing to do?

It seems rather odd to merely 'carry' your gun on the weekends.
Thanks in advance for your insight...

Why in the world would you leave a gun in the car? That is just irresponsible gun ownership. Many guns are stolen from vehicles. If you decide to carry and your work does not permit then you have two choices, one is not carry while going to work or carry concealed at work and take your chances.

Vehicle mounted lock boxes can be had at Wal Mart for less than 50 dollars

The first three years I had my CCW, I only carried on days I was not at work. They had very strong anti-gun rules, and I agreed to abide by them when I took the job. The neighborhoods I worked in were for the most part "High Crime". We employies were not allowed to have our weapons in the car on company property either (I think the law has changed on this). Since the day they let me go I have carried everywhere I go. I feel If my self defense gun isn't welcome, neither am I or the money I would spend. That being said; when I need to go to the Post Office or visit someone it the Hospital, I lock my hand gun in the vehicle. OR don't take it on that outing. The funny thing is, I feel my faith protects me when I'm carrying (guardian angles, sword of the Lord and that sort of thing). So I am comfortable, you will need to decide what is right for you, inside the Laws where you live. Ivan

I worked for the Federal Gov't after LEO retirement and carrying a gun was a firing offense. Since I took public transportation both ways I did not carry for that period of time unless I was off. I reasoned that the job was paying me very well and I'd agreed to the rules. I was fortunate that no one bothered me during that time, but I carry 100% now that I retried from the Fed.

Depending upon the "known" or official interoffice rule on CC,
I chose not to leave in the car for two reasons: 1. Going to my
car after work hours, I need my gun....2. Avoid a break in....
Just personal choices. In the office, it stayed in my briefcase,
or "man purse", whichever I toted in confidence that day.

Oh...and yes, it gets hot here in the metro area, and I carry
metal guns. Good luck.

I carry appendix IWB 85% of the time or more. Pocket carry(pants or jacket), OWB 4:00, and shoulder holster make up the remaining percentage.... in that order.

I won't get into what I do or don't do at work. But say I WERE to carry at work and had to use it to protect myself..... I'd get fired possibly (according to company policy)... but if I HAD to use a gun at work, likely my employment status wouldn't be too much of a concern. There's a no gun policy, but my employer, the owner, tends to forget about it so I wonder if he'd be lenient in such a scenario. Of course, that all may or may not matter since I might not even ever carry at work.

There are some good lock boxes out there if you'd like to leave a gun in your car. I personally have one bolted to the chair assembly frame under the passenger side seat for anytime I need to leave my gun behind.

My workplace is very pro second amendment. Depending on personnel onsite the ratio of guns may be 2 or 3 times how many of us are there. My EDC will move on and off me into the truck depending on the task at hand. For overnights I'll even bungee my M&P15 behind the drivers seat.

I'm semi-retired so I don't have to worry about work carry as my "hobby-job", web design, is done at home. If I did still work and my employer had a no-gun policy I'd have a decision to make as I don't like to ever be unarmed.

As it is, I carry 100% of the time, including at home. After all, 100% of home invasions happen in the home! :D

I carry a full sized Glock, a G22, IWB in a Galco KingTuck (almost identical to a Crossbreed hybrid for half the money). After the firsdt two or three days of adjusting to it I don't even notice it...its just something else I have on me, about as noticeable as my wallet.

I carry all day, everyday. I'm fortunate my workplace does not prohibit guns. As for other places, what they don't know won't hurt them. Besides, in Missouri the signs don't carry much weight.

I'm fortunate in that I'm the boss and set my own rules in my office. Of course, I can't carry in the courthouse.

I'm not a fan of lockboxes in cars, so don't use one.

Mostly I use a Del Fatti iwb holster for my Colt Commander. On the occasions I carry a M38, it's in a pocket (never with a pocket holster).

Not sure what your next to last sentence means, like whether there are company rules against it, or whether you hadn't figured out how to conceal it.

Everything depends on how you dress and your environment at work. Also on whether you feel it matters very much whether you have a gun available while you're at work.

If you need to have one on your body all the time, because you move around or because you have no safe, locked storage at work, then it could be anything from a conventional strong side belt carry under a suit jacket to an ankle holster or pocket carry. If your present gun doesn't fit the best carry method, good news! You get to buy another gun!

If you don't need to have the gun on your bod at work, you may find appropriate the method that I used most recently for about seven years - I had a soft briefcase with a hidden Velcroed compartment for a gun, in which I carried a 4" Model 10-5 and a couple of Jetloaders. Upon arriving at work, I locked my briefcase in one of my file cabinets, and removed it upon leaving. The file cabinet was right behind me, and sometimes remained unlocked while I was at my desk.

Many many decades ago, I carried a Model 40 in a false bottom I had created in a conventional Snoopy-decorated lunchbox which my daughter had abandoned.

Your exact situation and imagination may provide other remedies.

S&W SD40VE .40 caliber IWB at 4 o'clock position but with it being so cold I also carry a Kahr CM9 in a pocket holster in my coat pocket. Spare mags for each gun as well. I'm retired so don't worry about office rules! Do keep em concealed, tho. Hate to leave a gun in a car tho, so usually I just keep em concealed and smile!

Yup. I work on federal installation and i cannot carry. So when i had my permit, i was basically a weekend carrier. It was nice, im debating whether i should get it again or not.

I'm retired but am often a visitor at Ft Bliss, the VA and Wm Beaumont, all Fed property where carry is prohibited. I have to go to these places, a gun in the vehicle is not permitted, random vehicle searches are common. On those days, I leave the guns at home in a safe. I don't do business with stores that prohibit carry on their property. I always feel naked when traveling to and from military installations unarmed. Dumb restriction that needs to be changed. The latest concession to the whack job killing the Doctor at the local VA a couple of weeks ago is more signs and metal detectors at entrance to Hospital and VA clinic. Search at the whim of the local rent-a-cop.
