How do you food shop?

We tried the home delivery thing with several stores. Lost items, wrong items, late deliveries, wrong order delivered and I don't know whatall. We finally went back to the good old way of going to the store.

And besides, as Rusty once said (and this was burned into my brain) I like to thump my own Melons.

We are old fashioned and still shop that way for the most part!

We live rural and any serious shopping at other than a convenience store is 30 miles no matter what direction we go.

We are retired so we usually go together. As of today's NY state dictates/commands we mask at the entry way and grab a cart we disinfect and get busy. I normally go to the Deli counter for fresh sliced items and she grabs other stuff. We usually go to Wallys, believe it or not 2 of the 3 are well run and reasonably normal people shopping and working!:D

All 3 are the huge Mega stores and I learned way back not to hunt for the Mrs, as you can walk for a long tme and not see each other. I stand at a major intersection so I can see 4 directions. She comes down and I drop the Deli in the basket.

As said in another s post no way do I want some picker that does not know us making substitutions if the item we want is not there. We get it our way and check out. Mrs Lakesider puts the stuff on the counter and I pack our own good shopping bags. We even have a few good cold/froze type bags.

Its amazing how things are, when I was younger working after school that was my job packing bags and boxes (remember them) for our customers.:)
Pay and leave the store and the mask comes off inches from the out door.

There's a fairly large grocery store 1 mile from my house so I do almost all my shopping there. I usually go about 3 times a week as I don't keep a huge stockpile and many items are best when fresh. I go pretty early on weekdays to beat most of the crowd and always use the self checkout since it's faster.

Since everybody's mentioning it I don't wear a mask. The signs on the door saying masks are required are only there to comply with the governor, nobody has ever questioned me about not wearing one. I do keep my distance from other shoppers as it's not my intent to make anyone uncomfortable.

Most of the others I see there without masks are also senior citizens like me. We may be most "at risk" but we are also least inclined to blindly follow government orders.

My wife is in Wegmans EVERY day. So my shopping consists of telling her "We are out of XYZ" or "Can you please grab me ABC"? Every time I go I get yelled at for buying unnecessary stuff...ie, junk food and things she can't eat.

Under mask mandate in Arkansas but still there are some who do not
wear one in certain places. The mask are no big deal to me and mine
so we always mask up to go into public places. Do most of our grocery
shopping at Walmart or a regional grocery Harps. I have also been in
the local lumber and hardware stores and feed store.
I think the science has shown mask do work and one could have
Covid-19 and not show symptoms, so why not use them?

I shop for myself and also do some of the shopping for my nearby aunt and uncle. My aunt had a stroke last year so it's hard for them to get out. My uncle texts me on what they want when I go to a particular store.

I don't like it, but I always wear a mask because I have too many enhanced risks. I have a starter list for myself but sometimes I'll see something that looks interesting and I'll get that too.
