How do you shave?

Thats me on the right.

Anybody else think Jay looks a little like Robin Williams?

I can't believe I am reading this stuff, the next thing someone is going to ask is what color of undies do we wear? Grey.

The Fusion cartridges are too expensive but they're the only ones that I can get through a whole shave with. All the others I've tried get dented after the first couple strokes and do nothing but tug on my whiskers. I can't grow hair on top of my head but the hair on my face is like piano wire.

Out West: Bic Metal are supposed to be the Cat's Meow for shaving, real sharp, and last "forever." I've not tried one.

About the only place one can find them is Amazon.com. At least I haven't seen them around here in a couple of years.

I don't have a heavy beard on the sides of my face (hence no full beard), though my goatee and mustache are thick and mostly white.

I hate, absolutely hate, to shave. I only do it every other day except if it's a Church day or on those occasions when I am teaching at the Police Academy-I shave every day then.

I can't make myself do all the prep use a brush and soap (hey, my heart is only programmed for so many beats, why would I waste any on something I hate?) :p

I use a Gillette disposable, get about 6 shaves with it, though I rise and dry it. I use some sissy sensitive skin cream that squirts out of the can, and get the horrible job over as quickly as I can.

I can't believe I wasted so many beats of my poor, sweet heart on this thread, either.

It's like you read an entire book hoping that when you get to the end it will make sense. Not.

I'm pretty much like blujax01 and a few others. I use either a Trac II or a Sensor razor. I either splash my face real well with hot water or, if I haven't shaved for several days, I'll cover my face with a hot, damp washcloth for about a minute.

I've used a mug and brush since 1967 and am too old to change now. I use a good quality glycerin shaving soap made by a little Mom-and-Pop store in Northern California. I finish up by slathering my face with Bay Rhum.

Personally, like some others have said, I don't seem to get a better shave with a three-blade, four-blade, or five-blade razor. They might shave faster, but I think it's more of a factor of technique than the number of blades. Two blades seem to work real well for me and are cheaper besides.:)

I'm with you, my friend. Lately I've been shaving only twice a week, which isn't too oppressive. I'm partly disabled and can't stand in front of a mirror, so I use a Norelco rotary here at my desk. I can see from reading all the other responses that shaving costs me considerably less; my Norelco has held up for years without needing to replace the shaving heads, so the initial purchase was the only expense. And mine is a corded model, so the cost was quite low.

The only razor that doesn't leave my neck and face bloody is the Fusion. I have been shaving for over 50 years. Electric razors just left my face red and sore without cutting much of the beard. Used a Norelco with the cream for awhile, but it took 30 minutes to get a decent cut. The Fusion changed all that. Yeah, the blades are expensive, but I get about 3 months shaving out of one blade, so it is certainly worth the blood savings.

I alternate between a GEM single edge or a Gillette double edge for the razor and either cream or soap with a badger brush. I finish it with clubman after shave for that barber shop smell.

Yellow and brown...
