HOW I GOT MY HANDLE

My screen name is from my time in the MC. I was in the Marine Air Wing. The squadron was VMFA-115 and they flew F4 Phantoms. I worked on the stuff inside the radome. My job description was Airborne Firecontrol Technician. Worked on the radar and missile systems for the F4 Phantom. Also worked on the bomb delivery systems and electronic counter measures. We were the first Marine fighter squadron to fly bomber escorts to North Vietnam. The air force had that locked up.

When I joined almost 20 years ago I was making bank as a "pharmaceutical sales consultant." Unfortunately, I turned 53 and was told (paraphrasing): "Joe, even though you made 'President's Club' last year (top 1% of sales), you don't look like Ken or Barbie anymore. You can go now." And yeah, go on and sue for "age discrimination," they have 100 lawyers on staff full time with nothing better to do than tie you up in court till you die. Too old to change my handle now. Joe

Any pictures from when you looked like Barbie?

Had to have a name for AOL.

My wife actually likes the smell of wet dogs and I bought my first 1911 from the DCM at age 13 or 14 in 1964. You could do that then. A WWII Ithaca that cost a whopping $25 and was mailed right to the house. Had a love for 1911s ever since.
So, I just combined the 2.

I'm Steve and I live in Las Vegas. I've had a bunch of other nicknames and screen names that you don't want to know/can't use on here.

I have one I use on car forums that I was questioned about by another forum member. I told him, "I have a habit of slaying sacred cows when it comes to cars and trucks. In the past some have described my comments corrosive, so I picked a suitable handle when I joined here so you know what you're up against." :)

I've had a few nicknames over the years.
One fine day, back in my backpacking days as we were setting up camp, I pulled a Sierra saw, folding bow saw, knife and small hatchet out of my backpack. One of the fellows asks, "what are you, some kinda psycho?" After that "Psycho" became my backpacking name. We also had Spike, 'cause he looked like somebody you'd call Spike, Pyro 'cause he likes a big camp fire and Captain Grub, 'cause while we were all eating dehydrated camp food he was cooking steak in the campfire.

My biking buddies usta call me "Poser" 'cause my jersey, shorts and helmet had to match my bike.

My car back then was an '86 Toyota Tercel 4wd station wagon with a bike rack on the roof. I called it the "Posermobile."

When I sold Toyota parts, a Latino fellow I worked with used to call me Diablo. He said I looked like the devil.

For this forum, since I'm a fan of short barreled revolvers......

"shouldazagged" and "labworm".

The best handles evah!!

I miss those boys.
timn8er, he asked me some advice on making leather tags and when he found out how much it'd cost for the leather, leather tools, stamps, finishes, etc. he asked me to make them for him. We became online friends. Really miss him.

Mine springs from my minority status as a snow lover. I have an artistic temperament, meaning I love all things beautiful; and to me, there is nothing as ravishingly beautiful as all those blazing white, snow-covered trees and landscape. Every snowy day for me is a good day.

Regards,
Andy

Can relate. I spent 20 years working on A6's. Two tours In-Country. Mostly our targets were on the Uncle Ho's Highway, we had patches for the flight suits that had "Laotian Highway Patrol". Was around for Desert Storm also.

Well, you're not the only one. Though I have to admit, I don't care for driving in the stuff. But one of my favorite things to do is to go for walks on fresh snow.

While I'm a big fan of summertime in the West Virginia mountains, I do havta admit that driving to the gym past snow covered rolling hills and farmland's a beautiful experience.

My handle sprang from my affection or affliction for 44 Specials

Walks in the fresh snow are great for you folks that are use to it. For this ole Florida guy, I prefer walks on a sandy beach. Can do that year round here (except for during a hurricane).

I prefer dry roads over this white plague :)

Besides his 3rd gens and his little red truck (it almost broke his heart when it got wrecked) he cherished his pair of Carvins.
