How long is S&W turn around for repairs?

After two attempts my local Gunsmith still cannot fix the S&W 15 snubbie I bought from him a month ago. The trigger periodically will not reset. It's been cleaned, given a new RB spring, and dry-fired a thousand times. Still no joy. It will do fine for a while, then fail. Always on the same cylinder.

Being a stand-up guy, the gun shop dealer is going to send it to S&W to get it fix on his dime.

So.... Should I expect a long wait time, as in months?

My last gun back (non warranty) was 3 months. They did not finish the job, so it went back. I expect 3 more months. Warrenty work was generally 3-4 weeks.

I have heard from three days to many months. Depends how busy they are, how complicated the repair is, and how many bananas they gave the monkey who gets your gun.

I received a revolver back a week ago that S&W had replaced a barrel on under warranty. Got it back 10 days after I shipped it for repair.

I sent a revolver in for non warranty work and it arrived at the factory on 10/5. I have not even received the repair estimate yet. I wanted to get it in before the holidays as I know that will add to the turn around time. Hopefully I'll have it back shortly.

I have had pretty good luck with my turn around times. The 'norm' is about 3 weeks, at least for the 3 guns that I have sent back to their birthplace for work to be done.

Follow up to my comment above: I received the estimate a couple of days ago and phoned in my credit card info. The person who took it said it would be about 4 more weeks. An interesting side note is that the shipping charge to return to me by FedEx is $14.00. S&W obviously gets a volume discount but FedEx and UPS are also ripping off customers with their required overnight shipping of handguns. I paid almost $80.00 coast to coast to ship it by UPS and FedEx had quoted a rate within a couple of dollars of that ! Next time I'll ask my local dealer what he would charge to send by US Postal Service.

Just got my M58 back it took 6 weeks, mechanical repair (new hand and cylinder stop) and reblue. They did a great job.

WOW! My S&W 15 came back repaired from the factory yesterday,under just 3 weeks. That was a pleasant surprise.

I wonder if that dumb hammer blocking safety bar could be hanging up. Heard a lot of bad news about those things lately.

I would also closely inspect to see if the trigger and/or hammer are dragging on the frame. May need fitting or shimming?

If it always does it on the same cylinder position, you would want to check the extractor ratchets to see if one of them is hanging up the hand as it tries to slide by the ratchet. If that fit is too tight, it could hang the trigger right there.

My warranty repair earlier this year took 1 week. They sent an overnight FEDEX pre paid label, I shipped it, they fixed it then sent it back overnight fixed right. No one was more surprised than yours truly.
I've had a non S&W pistol at my local smith now that's going on 5 weeks.

I am not impressed with Smith and Wesson customer service warranty repair. I purchased a brand new 22A1 and it was not right out of the box. I sent it back and they received it December 20th. I understand they were closed for Christmas and New Years but come-on! It is now February 11th. I call weekly and get no meaningful answers after waiting an average of 20 minutes to speak to someone.

There are a lot of gun owners where I work. Every week my fellow workers ask if I have heard anything and my answer is always the same. Unfortunately, I cannot give S&W repair any positive comments at this time.

Very recently had a warranty repair (simple one) on a PC gun. It took just at 30 days. However, when I inquired about a non-warranty repair on a PC gun, I was quoted 6 months.
