How Long To Expect A Letter?

I know there's a backlog, and I'm fine waiting. I sent my request in early July. It's coming up on 5 months and I just want to make sure it's not lost. The check was cashed in July. The mail here has been having issues so I just want to know if there's a way to verify if it was sent. The last one I requested took less than 4 months. Thanks.
