I alternate between a Series 80 Colt GM, Kimber Raptor 5" and a Colt LW Commander .38 Super for concealed carry. I also carry a Colt Mustang Pocketlite .380 sometimes. The all steel 5" pistols get pretty heavy at the end of a long day but that doesn't keep me from carrying them.

New policy kicked in.........had to give up the TRP or Lt Wt Commander. Retiring in December so I gave up the TRP. Not bad since I have a desk job. Still can have the 640 though.

Now that the weather is getting cooler here in the North East I can bring the Para P14 back out... a sweat shirt covers it nicely.....

I carry my Kimber Pro Carry in a Galco Miami Classic shoulder rig in the winter and in a Galco Jack Slide in warmer weather.

I carry a Gvt. Rock Island (actually, the frame and slide are RIA, everything else is Wilson Combat.) It makes carrying a little more of a thought out process, but it's not a huge problem. I usually carry strong side in a belt slide holster and a decent rayon Hawaiian print shirt is good enough. (silk will print BAD)

If Illinois had conceal and carry, this is what I'd be carrying. Though, mine is still just the production model, never swapped out anything on it (yet).

Alas, it just sits at home in it's safe box... Except on those few occasions I take it to the gun range.

Still, glad to hear that people use a 5" 1911 as a carry gun. I was afraid that maybe it would be "too big" for that.

I'll carry this if the jacket is on.

And before I got the KC I was carring another Kobra in a Bianchi shoulder holster (the other stainless 45 pistol).

Have carried a Commander daily since 1980. Before that a 1917 vintage 1911 US Military marked .45 from about 1976 till replaced by the Commander.

I carry a 5" 1911 in a slider holster .waiting on a custom holster from little bear holsters to accomadate my acc rail . will post how it works out . it is being made for IWB and OWB .

I have been carrying 2 1911s or a 1911 and a Combat Commander for about 10 years now, before that it was a a 1911 and another auto (which varied - Glock 23, Browning .40, KAHR .40.)

Sometimes in cool weather (especially hunting season) I carry a S&W 25-5, 1955 Target or Model 29 as the second gun.

Everyone has to work out his own system. I started packing two full sized guns not because I was afraid one would fail but I was seeing so many guns and gun hands shot in the incidents I was reviewing.

Press on.

Me too. The Miami shootout is an incident where several people (on both sides) used a NYR. I usually carry a 629 as a primary and a steel .357 snubby as a BUG. Gun #2 has the equvalent of hot 9mm power. I find that comfoeting since the bUG can at times become the primary.

My regular carry has been the commander size S&W Gunsite model, but I have a Milt Sparks VMII on order that I plan on using with my full size (no rail) SA Professional. Can't wait to give it a try........... !!
