You need another category: "I have started the process of getting my CCW but it has not arrived yet." (Add one vote for me.) Planning on getting around to it is one thing, being in the pipeline (and waiting for the process to do its thing) is another!

This applies to all you lurking "journalists" who would out your neighbors in your birdcage liners and print the list of CCPs in your state.

For what its worth, the highest per capita state for CCW permit holders in either North or South Dakota. I forget which. I believe the percentage is of eligible citizens, so excluding minors, tho I suppose it might be a percent of the entire population. Most states where CCW is shall issue are less than 5%, with maybe 3-4% the average.

I use above statistics to calm those who needlessly worry about a wild west scenario, making the point that most people don't want to CCW anyway. (And the point that your wild west shoot 'em up miscreants are criminals who will carry anyway, regardless of the law.)

Another choice, don't need a CCW. Retired cop, qualified under HR-218, and no permit needed for retired cops in my home state.

My wife and I both are CHL holders here in Texas. We've had ours about two years. Wife carries a Model 19 with 38+P loads. I carry a variety...mostly S&W 1911PD or 442. Soon as I can get enough rounds through it I will add a S&W 6906 to the list.

I'd take the OP's question as basically asking "do you carry", whether there is a permit or not. Some states don't require a permit after all.

I carry guns (plural). It would be pointless to play the "none of your business" route since I openly discuss what holsters I like, what ammunition I use, and even such things as my infatuation with the .357 Sig cartridge.

The county south of us in North Dakota has the highest percentage of CCW permits in the state. Slope county has something in the neighborhood of 50% with licenses and a total population of about 750 people. There is virtually no crime in the county.

I find it strange or perhaps amusing that those who play the "none of your business" route will be 1st in line when it comes to "Show us pics of your CC"; whether they carry or not....

I'm a firearms instructor with links to my website in my signature area and my name and email address posted on the internet for all to see. The "none of your business" route doesn't really work for me either.
