How many Coppers and smoke/eaters and..

Active LEO and EMT-Basic.

'Retired' after 24 years as a municipal police officer, then started my second career as a Sergeant with a major university. Just coming up on 5 years there. (We are all cross-trained as EMT-Basic or EMT-First Responder, partly because our Department of Public Safety also runs a student rescue squad. EMT cert for campus LE is pretty common.)

Retired 3+ years ago after thirty two in LE, my last 23 with the MT Hwy Patrol. Also did a tour in the USAF, then twenty three in the Army Natl guard.

FN in MT

Retired PD Sergeant; former PD Detective [best part of my career]. Retired after 14 years after being hit by a drunk driver while at work. Went to law school, now have a firm helping disabled cops and firefighters get the benefits they are due, here in suburban New York.

You sound about like me. Gave up a career in LE for ranching.

34 years on the job, the last 14 as a Chief of Police.
After each dealing with the City Council I always felt like
I needed a shower. Nothing patently illegal, I just didn't trust
them.

I'll come out of the closet just for you Xfuzz, but now I really feel old. I left the Volusia County Sheriff's Dept. for greener pastures 10 years before S. Hammer joined. Joined the U.S. Border Patrol. Spent the first 12 years as a Border Patrol Agent, I spent the rest of my career as a Border Patrol Aircraft Pilot (there ain't no more) and retired in 1998. I've got to say that as much fun as I had and fine folks as I met on the job, I really have been enjoying retired life more.

Retired after 20 years with the Anchorage Police Dept.
