It is a pain in the butt to get a gun in D.C., and I think they are still trying to limit people to one handgun after a lot of red tape. However, no where else that I'm aware of in the United States imposes a limit on how many guns a person can own, nor does anyone ask you your reasons for buying one aside from the sales staff and they only do it to assist in picking one.
