It all started last November. I bought an M&P .22. Once Joe Bidden opened his mouth about gun control, I bought a .40 FS. This past week I finally got a .40 Shield.

How many can I buy before she says, "That's enough"? Since I have three college age kids living with us plus my wife, I figure we need at least four more CCWs. Wouldn't you agree?

If you "want" one more firearm than you have now, and you can "afford" one more firearm than you have now, then you should get one more firearm than you have now.

My wife and I have a "don't ask, don't tell" policy when it comes to my gun purchases.

Since this last election and the madness that followed, my wife has been more than supportive.

I agree,
I finally convinced the wife about owning gun last Aug, bought MP 22 and MP 15-22, since then bought MP9c, Marlin XT-22, Maverick 88 shotgun, now I am jonesing for a 1911, been looking at RIA GI 1911 9mm, plus all the ammo accessories. Locally I found it NIB $405 OTD, I know it's not a S&W but its cost effective and have read good reviews about it. Kinda hoping that when all this dies down and people start getting their credit card bills nicer ones will start showing up in the local pawn shops cheap.

My wife says that guns are a good investment, she lets me buy as many and as much ammo as we can afford. But we both have good jobs. We both love the sport, and have respect for it as well. I recently sold off 4 pistols to buy a pistol caliber carbine. The price of ammo drove me to this purchase. She said to me, why not just buy a real AR 15, I purchased a Just Right .40 Carbine. I had to explain that it had to do with ammo availability. Does not make since to purchase a rifle that you can not get ammo to shoot. So when the termoil subsides an AR 15 is on the purchase list.

My wife has has carried for over twenty years. She asked for and got an S&W Pro Series Model 60 .357 magnum for her last birthday. She is a proud Life Member of the NRA. She urges me to buy more guns and ammo every time Obama, Biden, Reid, or Pelosi is on TV.

You didn't say if your dinner plate was having less good food piled on it "yet".

My wife doesn't work. Well, that's not accurate. She takes care of the house, home schools our son and takes care of all the animals, including me. We have an understanding, I make sure we have enough staples, she doesn't care what I buy after that.

It was she that told me to get the Ed Brown. It was she that said to get a bigger safe. It was she that told me to get the M&P .45.

Dude, take care of her and she won't question how many guns you have.

I never thought that there was a limit!! We will be married 22 yrs Nov, first date I said " I will show you mine if you show me yours"- she immediately pulled out a SW 36 and I showed here my Speed six. Since then I always bought 22 of everything, 10-22,mini-14, 15-22,AR's, shorty forty, AK,SKS, etc. She carries a custom Officers model and I carry one of my Sigmas in 40. If mortgage, electric, phone, food, ammo, fuel, savings/IRA,health insurance, Dog food/treats- ( 2 Rotties) if all are covered then we can buy whatever that we feel the need or want for. If bills are paid, college tuition, savings/IRA then she should be good with whatever you buy for you or her!! Enjoy the 40 FS. Be Safe

I don't tell Frau Ops how many pairs of shoes she should buy and she dosen't tell me how many guns to buy - Works for us...

My wife and I have a deal where they are proportionate to shoes/purses.
I am amazed at what a pair of shoes or purse can cost! We should probably have a "her" safe.
However, it works for us. :)

I'm at 11...nothing yet from her.

Explain situational needs for each firearm, study the ballistic and size/capacity arguments to justify the "need" for the new gun, and explain that the entire purchase, along with all previous purchases are simply to ensure her safety and that of the entire family. As far as I see it, you are, at bare minimum, a couple guns short. Every home needs a pump shotgun for good measure....explain patterning and the affects of adrenaline of the human body in high stress situations (Collection count up one 12ga.). Then show her videos of the ballistic safety regarding home defense situations and the .223 cartridge (Current collection grows by an AR-15). Explain the need for both kids and the wife to accompany you to the range for introduction/practice/training (and to win them over and get them comfortable with the idea of MANY guns in the household) which will lead into them picking out firearms for themselves (collection up three more guns by default). Before you know it, they are asking you if it is okay to buy this gun or that accessory. Plinker, I was previously in the same situation as you, and I'm telling you that you start by explaining the "need" for the firearm and exposing the members of the household to them in a safe manner. It all works out in the end. I am at the training/practice phase. My wife has accepted my passion for firearms, but she hasn't bought one for herself at this point. She is, however, frighteningly proficient with all of the guns I own. I'm okay with her accepting the need for the next firearm and being able to protect herself in our home. She's comfortable understanding that I am well trained and regularly practiced, I don't wear a tinfoil hat and that my owning my firearms makes her and our family safer. I'm comfortable with all of that. Good luck!!

Assure your wife that you will not buy any "fun" guns until you have acquired all of the necessary safety and security equipment needed for the 5 of you, as follows:

5 22 pistols
5 22 rifles
5 12 gauge shotguns
5 M4 type carbines
5 .308 or .30-06 rifles
5 off-duty type CCWs
5 duty size CCWs

Plus, at least 6 magazines for each pistol and at least 12 magazines for each rifle; plus, at least 5,000 rounds of ammo for each 22 caliber gun, 1,000 rounds of ammo for each other gun and 250 rounds of duty ammo for each carry gun.

Assure her that this is not a hobby. It is only providing for the emergency needs of each family member. This is the same category as first aid kits and fire extinguishers. :)

Let her know that absolutely NO hobby stuff will be bought until these priority things are purchased.
