How many guns do you need to own before you are a certified gun nut?

nut

Yes, you can be a gun nut even if you own one. But what is the range when you are certifiable? I have 19 (rifles, shotguns, revolvers, and 1 pistol).

Curious how large the collections are out there.

you only need one or none at all, but support 2nd amendment rights to be classified as a nut by a liberal.

When someone accuses me of that, I tell them Lee Harvey Oswald and John Allen Muhammad were gun nuts and that I am a hunter and collector.

When...

You have over 4000 posts on a gun forum:D

This might be a start:rolleyes:

Curt, that's a good start, but you've got quite a way to go before you're truly certifiable. ;) Now if that's the overflow from your fourth safe, you might almost be there.

Welllll...just never know do ya??;) I will neither confirm or deny:cool:

I figure it like this...

If you live in Florida and don't own guns then you are either an anti or an alien.

If you live in Texas and don't own guns then you are likely thought of as some kind of commie or worse possible hippie.

If you live in the South and don't own several guns then you might be called a Yankee in an unkind tone and get the hundred yard glare over a glass of sweet iced tea.

And if you are from California and you don't own several guns then you are probably too worried if your shoes are vegan enough to be reading this website or concerned about a S&W forum at all...

But YMMV. Peole still surprise me some days.

A feller is a gun nut when he spends more time thinking about guns than he does about other male pastimes such as drinking, fighting and wenching :)

Funny, I never heard of a "tool nut." Sure you can do 90% of what needs doing with a hammer, pliers and an adjustable wrench (and duct tape of course) but it's nice to have the right tool for the job. Guns are tools, each one for a specific "job." And there are a lot of jobs around the house and everywhere else. Joe

I believe the official number is 19.:D Oh, what? Sorry!:o

Heck, I'm just a nut. At least that's what my liberal "friends" say. Guns have very little to do with it. They say I'm a nut because I believe in God, the Bill of Rights (all of it), secure borders, legal immigration, getting the government out of my personal decisions, absolute freedom unless I hurt someone else in the process, low taxes, color blindness, drastically curtailed federal spending, term limits, a strong national defense, not being the world's police force, personal defense, speaking English in America, not disarming law-abiding citizens while they travel, workable checks and balances in government, excellent bourbon and good marriages between a man and woman (mine has lasted 50 years so far). I'm sure I've left out a few things, but those are the highlights and I guess you get my drift. Yeah, I admit it. I'm a nut to believe in these things. And I hope I'm not standing alone during the 2012 elections.

Once you have a gun for every type hunting you do, plus the ones you need for defense, plus one for all hobbys like skeet, trap, or whatever, when you get a bunch above those basics, you might be a gun nut.

Probably a few less than I have...

I don't think of myself as a collector-I have bought and sold various guns I thought were interesting for over 40 years now, and I am sure I am in the several hundredsover that time. I have mostly handguns now, 7 of them S&W's.
