every time i buy a gun i tell myself it's the last, and then i always find myself lusting after another one. my first purchase was an M&P9c, and then i bought a 3913 about 6 months later, and a 4516 about 2 months after that. now, for whatever reason, i feel the need for the M&P45c. i can't understand it. i can only carry one at a time. why do i need so many? my reason for buying a second gun was to have a backup, but the third gun was my random need for having a 45 and i didn't really have a legitimate reason for the purchase.

i love smith and wesson's third generation pistols, and equally love the M&P's. now i get torn between 9's and 45's, and i have one of each for my third gens, and now i want one of each for my M&P's. i just can't understand why i need it, why my M&P9c or my 3913 for that matter aren't enough. i am a firm believer that shot placement makes a bigger difference than caliber, if i ever end up in a situation where i need to draw my weapon(i hope i never do) i see no reason why a 9 won't be enough. yet i keep looking at the 45c every chance i get.

opinions?

Many, many, Colts ......

I knew a guy who had collected well over 100 Colt Lightning rifles prior to the 1980's when you could afford them. They were all on racks in his bedroom. Beautiful rifles in a wide variety of configurations and calibers. Had he not spent his life collecting them, I and many others would have never had the opportunity to enjoy handling them and even on occasion shooting some of them.

So don't hesitate to responsibly collect what interests you so that you and others can enjoy them. Take them to the range, show them off, and have a great time!

Dude, you have no idea how deep this rabbit hole goes. You should not even be asking this question until you find yourself shopping for your third 48 gun safe.

If all you have is three pistols at this time, wait until you start on rifles, then shotguns. It's when you start eying cannons that you know you have a sickness.

I knew I hade too many when I was finding guns I forgot I had. My safe was full and others were in the closet and under my bed. I gave my son four rifles and four shotguns, it made us both happy.

It seems to be some sort of addiction. Girls-shoes, guys-guns?
I see from the above comments, you'll get no help here!

Glock 17 gen4... jan. got ruger mark3 hunter and my favorite S&W M&P 1522. so I 'm averaging one a month. want 223 or 556 next, any suggestions welcome since im very new to guns, well at least owning them. shot a lot when younger, friends guns remember shooting a I think it was called a bingham some kind of tactacool 22 a Winchester lever 22 magnum, uzi 9mm, ar 223 back in the 80s. never ends kinda on a rifle kick now.

Too many

Do you have to move guns out of the sink before you do dishes?;do you have to clear guns off the kitchen table to serve dinner? (guns being cleaned, repaired or photographed do not count) do you step on guns with your barefeet in the middle of the night when nature calls? No? then you don't have too many guns.

You mentioned 3rd gen Smiths in 9 & 45, there's a whole line of 10 mm 3rd gens available too.
