How many leave a tip of the maid?

Funny that I saw this - the last thing I did before logging on was to put out a tip for the maid. I tip $5/day unless I'm staying somewhere really fancy, and I always put the money on a little note that says thanks.

Always have left $3/day for as far back as I can remember - if it's an extended stay then $4 or $5 / night - leave it on checking out with a "thank you" note.

In restaurants, I round up to 20% - e.g. if the bill is 76.58 I will mentally round it to $80 and then add $16 (20% of $80) to the 76.58.

Always. Every day, as there may be different staff. And a handwritten 'Thank You' note.

The price of the hotel stay has nothing to do with the amount of tip I leave. The service and consideration does.
