how many of you have never owned a new S&W Revolver?

Both of my S&W revolvers were bought used.
The first one, a .357 Magnum Model 13, was purchased in 1980 from a pawn shop.
The second one, a .22 Magnum Model 351PD AirLite, was purchased last year (2014) from a private individual.
I don't own any S&W auto-loaders.

At one point I owned 37 S&W revolvers and none of them were bought new.

I forgot that I bought a 686 no dash 6 inch new in 1982 but I sold it to as close friend and it was later stolen from him. The other 37 I bought used and the 11 I still have were I bought used.

I have only ever had 2, a 60 no dash and a 28-2 both bough used. I did buy a Shield 40 new, but gave it to one of my brothers.

My first S&W, a 25-2, I bought at a gun show, it was current production, came with everything, and was LNIB, presented as unfired, but still, secondhand. I bought a 13-3 3" in 1983 brand new. I think it was my 6th S&W. Since then I've probably bought around 20, and none were new. I think the last new handgun of any brand I bought was a Grendel P-10, when I first saw one, and that was some time ago. I have bought a couple of new Savage rifles in the past few years.

The only new wheelguns I've ever owned are an S&W 638 & Colt Det Spl. The others are used, some more than others.

Presently have 28, they come and go. Only have two "LOCK" guns, an engraved , ivory stocked TR 45acp and a new model 69. Both were bought new but are the only ones of the 28 here now. The 69 is slick as glass, shoots great, but I can't screw up much pride of ownership for this thing. It's like the Glock of revolvers, satin stainless, goofy barrel shroud and condom grips. Much prefer pre '82 S&Ws!

I have and do own some ......"new" S&W revolvers.......including 2 of my 3 three inch 66s from 1988/9 ; cus no one wanted revolvers when you could buy a 15 shot 9mm..........

That said...........

I have; from the 1980's until about 2005/6 come across so many "ANIB"/"sock drawer" S&Ws at "stupid cheap" prices.......why worry about buying new!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've accumulated more than several S&Ws ..... just because they were "just too cheaply priced" to leave in the LGS!!!!!!!

I been a ruger revolver guy for most of my life. There well built handguns. No screws to come loose on the security sixes and the redhawks. They do lack the 100+++++ year old history. But they do offer a quality firearm like it or not.

Three years ago I went on a binge. My lgs had new S&W n frames between $599/$699. I lost control. A new m58 in nickel, New m57 / 6" nickel, New m24 / 6 1/2" nickel and a new m29-10 6 1/2" in blue. The eight used s&w revolvers followed me home. I'm on the wagon now, I'm in recovery for now. I'm over due for the binge buying to happen again soon. I might go nickel shopping.

Buying that dang s&w k22 6" masterpiece target revolver first for the 4yo grandson started my binge buying. The k22 opened up my eyes about the quality of the s&w revolvers.
I do everything for him now. I will and can rest in peace with the dirt nap knowing he is set for life with fun toys. I purchased new hunting rifles and shotguns for my son's as they were born in the 70's. They were only months old and were ready to bird hunt, deer and bear hunt.

I have never owned one not for lack of desire for a new one.

I love the new S&W Revolvers.

But new one's are so expensive i can't afford one.

So all of my S&W Revolvers are used ones.

First one I ever bought was a four inch nickle 19-3. It was used. But, the next one was a six inch 28-2... brand new. Shot that thing like there was no tomorrow. Still buy what I can when I can, new or used. Last new one was a NIB 21-4 Thunder Ranch that I found in a little out of the way gun shop. Outstanding pistol. Best $500 I've spent on a handgun in years. Sincerely. brucev.

I've bought three and still have them. Two were bought in the 70s (Md 49 and Md 63). The third was bought in the mid 1990s (Md 649). I really don't plan to buy another new gun ever. Not because I don't like them or can't afford. It's just that my LGSs and pawn shops seem to always have really nice used guns that more than satisfy my buying desires. Heck, except for this forum, I don't even peruse the online sales sites. My all-time favorite revolver (Md 681( was a used pick-up about two years ago.

UPDATE:

Bought a New 686 in 4" last week. Pretty darn happy.

I have owned several model 10's, a 15, 24, 629-0, 4 29-2's, enough 27's to arm an octopus, 4 22 masterpieces, 2 new 17-2's, a pre 27, a 25-5, many 19's and more.

New?

LNIB? Oh heck yea!

Ruger, Colt, Sig, an assortment of 1911's new yes.

I guess not, when younger I bought foolish new guns like Pythons.

Used S&W's were everywhere. LE trade in's, guys wanting a Colt.

There were so many nice used S&W's never saw the need.

Whooops. I added them above 2 17-2's.

Why yes I have thanks for asking.....

Do not start a thread on guns owned and guns traded off.

I bought 2 new S&W's a 29-2 6.5" and a 19-5 2.5." It appears those were sound investments. When my brother passed he left me my first stainless revolvers. An 8 3/8" S&W .500 with a 2X Leupold, a 4" S&W .500 and a 3" 629-6 PC Carry Comp that I have come to love!

327 TRR8 / 627 PC. Never got to fire the 327 as I traded it for a CS45. The 627 PC had a problem with it's barrel. Went back to S&W .. took 6 months to get it back with a new barrel. :(

Have about 6 S&W revolvers and the closest I've come is a 624 with the box. All bought used and have had no problems with them. Frank
