Well, today I get to post a resonse to my original thread. I'm the proud owner of both my 15-22 and my new M&P15OR. I picked it up last night after a lot of research in Smith models as well as other brands (DPMS, Rock River, Bushmaster,Colt...).

I really wanted to keep it in the family and I'm glad I did. My 15-22 has been great and I expect nothing less from my OR. I've added folding sights so far and will get a PA optic soon enough. Instead of buying that right out of the gates, I opted for a case of ammo. :)

4 months ago, all I had was a home defense pistol. This is going to add up quick...

Bushmaster A3 a looong time ago. Got the 15/22 as a repalcement for a Walther P22 that broke the slide after 6yrs and 50K+ rounds. P22 were back ordered forever and was offered a trade for another gun.

RRA .223, then a Beowulf .50 on a RRA lower, and my newest gun- the 15-22 which I can actually shoot at my local indoor range.

My 15-22 came first. After that, I've spent over a year deciding on what to get in the 5.56x45 / .223 Rem and I ended up doing TWO things.

The first was to re-work my current 7mm T/C-U (circa 1981) to a 23" Stainless Steel barrel, 3-9X42mm scope, and composite butt-stock and forend. I actually shot it for the first time on Saturday and being this is my first real scoped rifle, I know I have a long way to go but the recoil on .223 was not bad for a single shot so I can only imagine my SECOND firearm in .223, which I will pickup tomorrow, a Colt LE6920CMP-B (Black MOE). I'll post pictures of it this week but here's my current two long arm:

and just picked it up today (3/13/12):

I purchased the sport 5.56 a couple of weeks ago and love to shoot it so much I then have decided to buy the 15-22 and should be getting it Thursday. I think my next weapon will be a AR platform 308 or 30-06 when i recover from these purchases lol.

I just picked up our 2nd MP15-22 yesterday in Camo at S&W retail store.. unbelievable guns to play with and quite franklly, I believe that little 22lr could do some serious damage should I ever use it for SD... I know at 50 yards, I'm hitting the bullseye rapid firing. We brought 3 of my full AR 15's - 223 and my 15-22 to the range sunday, let's just say, I shot about 200 rds through the 22 and about 100 through the other AR's... if my wife was with me, we can add 500 rounds to the 22lr..

Congrats on the purchase, but aren't you going to cook that front sight sitting on top of the gas block?

Probably. :D

Actually, I've already moved the MBUS to my 15-22 and moved my 15-22 irons to the OR. After shooting with sights, I remembered how much fun it was. I'm going to keep the OR with the irons for now and take my time shopping for a scope.

However, I didn't figure out the melting thing on my own. I was fortunate enough to have someone point it out in the 15 sub forum also.

Get some Troy folding sights some day for that rifle :)
I own iron sights from them and they're really nice & solid, no worries. Pricey so get a coupon code/sale price.

Agreed. Those are definitely on the wish list.

I got a Sport about a month ago. Picked up a 15-22 MOE for my wife last night.

I got the AR15-22 PC first to replace another gun I use in SC and RR competition. Liked how it felt so decided to build an AR for 3-gun competition. Had some parts in hand from a prize table pick from the RR world match, Ergo F93 stock and pistol grip and 2 PMags. So ordered a Stag Arms 3-Gun upper, bought a forged assembled lower wo/stock and added a Geissle Super 3-Gun trigger and one more PMag. Just waiting to get all the parts to put it together and season its 18" barrel. It will look very similar to my AR15-22. Now I have a lot of "junk" parts for it like Ergo rail covers and vertical front grip, UTG bipod, tactical rail light, single point sling, rail mounted laser. Got lots of scopes including 1.5-4.5x32, 1-6x24, and 4-14x44 tactical scopes all mounted on QR mounts. But I only put on stuff when I need to use that stuff.

Current plan is to change the front sight post to a fiber optic or tritium post, get a more aggressive looking flash hider, and possibly switch out the grip for an MOE or MIAD grip and to add an AFG2. Love it, great to shoot, reasonably accurate with a bad shot like me behind the trigger, enjoy it so much I might sell the 15-22 since it just doesn't cut it anymore(I kid, I kid)

Got my 15-22 right after Christmas, got an Oly K16 from my brother last weekend. Hope to get out and shoot it some tomorrow. Everyday life and winds of 40-60 MPH have prevented so far.
