As I type this, I'm looking out the patio door at 6" of fresh snow with the thermometer reading 19 degrees. My total this week will be zero. I'll probably continue to shoot that much until sometime in March or April. If I really get jonesin' for the smell of burnt powder, I'll take the Garand and some mil-surp ammo out and not worry about retrieving the brass. A hot .30-06 case can easily melt through a foot of fresh, fluffy snow before it stops.
During the winter I have to be content to dry fire, maintain and reload. The 1974 vintage RCBS Rockchucker is plenty fast when you have 9 months of winter and three months when the skiing isn't very good.
