Just curious how many rounds some of you have fired through the 15-22 without cleaning?

So far I'm at 1500 (not much, I know) all Blazer. It's not even beginning to feel gritty, and the accuracy seems to be getting better.

1500 sounds about right, go to the range, shoot 1500 rounds then go home and clean it.

ehh ill clean it around 3000rnds. thats about 2 range visits. now i will lube i just dont clean clean to often. and i havent yet had any problem ( lets hope i just didnt screw myself).

Damn, haha. Impressive! Most I've shot in one sitting is 500 or so. Right now, I only shoot at ranges with time limits(2 hours). I just clean it after that but since the last range trip, I've decided not to clean the barrel, just everything else.

huh i guess I'm doing it too often I go like 500 the clean it.........should i go longer......sorry for the hi-jack

A good, thorough cleaning of my 15-22 happens everytime I shoot it. Normally that is around 150 rounds per range trip.

I just like the feeling that the next time I take her out, she's spot-on clean, dependable and ready to go! ;)

like matmat417, i clean it about every 3000 rounds, yes I am lazy,
but the 15-22 can handle it

Personally I clean mine after every range trip which is about 150 to 175 rds. (can't shoot much more than that in 1 hr.). Plus I think I am addicted to the smell of Hoppe's #9 solvent :D.

Even the barrel?

Yep! Even the barrel! I squirt a little CLP on a snake, run it through twice, then push a dry pad through to "smooth it up" and that way I don't worry about having "left-overs" in the barrel from my previous shooting.

That's just MY way. Others may vary..... :)

I guess I shoot too much to buy into the never clean idea. I've had so much poo poo on the face of the bolt that it was a wonder the rounds could even seat right. And shot some nasty ammo that left so much lead in the barrel its a miracle it didn't bulge. That's just me though, I like a clean lubed up gun. Don't understand the thinking behind not cleaning it.

amount shot through 15-22

Ok, so I'm one of those guys that was that kicked into his head that you clean a weapon after every use and keep it clean no matter what.

Heck, I take weapons out of the safe that haven't been shot and clean them again.

Must be the smell of Hoppe's that makes me do it.

On a semi-related note: I'm going to try out "Frog Lube" the next time I shoot my guns, should be interesting!

I'm the same way with all my other guns, just not the .22's(especially the barrels). I shoot gophers all summer and hate changing the POI due to over-cleaning. With my 10-22, the groups get tighter after a hundred rounds or so. The most I've shot through it without cleaning was 3,000 rounds. It starts to get weird after that.

I clean my Guns 3 times a month just to make sure there still in working order. ill go months without shootin but the guns are always 99% clean, just sum spots ya cant reach. I will shoot a 100 rnds or a 1000 depending on what im shootin, but Every gun gets cleaned. If you dont clean your gun, than your abusing it.

Any gun is best cleaned after every shooting.I live buy that and never had any problems.I enjoy cleaning my guns and know they will never fail me.
